Install in an instant, stolen in instant too?

Not quite, you need an extra long and thick pin to remove the doorbell from the mount. Similar to a sim ejection tool.

I am planning to install an Arlo Pro camera to keep an eye on the eufy doorbell. Wait, I need a hard-wired Swann CCTV camera to keep an eye on the Arlo PRO camera as well.

      • +2

Make the doorbell to keep an eye on the Swann CCTV camera. Problem solved :)

        • Infinite loop!

Happy with my doorbell from this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/549519. The only minor downside I found was the quality of the screws to fix the mount, which was terrible, you have to be very careful not to ruin the head. Ended up using my own.

  • With this homebase 2, can we buy eufy 2c wireless cameras and use it as additional security cameras? As in are they compatible with homebase 2?

    • +1

Yes. Eufy2c pack comes with a homebase 2 which is the same base unit than this pack.

      • Which is annoying. I don't need two home bases.

        • You can purchase add-on cameras without the homebase but they aren’t cheap when not on sale.

        • Yep I thought same as had 3 x 2c cameras and held out for buying the add-on only version of the doorbell (recently in stock in AU) without the HB. But having got using it, I'm wondering if I made the right decision - 4 devices on the system seems to take a performance toll a bit with playback etc so far, and my HB is not in my living area (but with router etc in rumpus) so a separate HB near to kitchen etc would actually be useful for hearing the doorbell chime easier. Food for other users' thought.

  • Can the power to the unit be hardwired or is it battery operated only?

Can be both, advantage of hardwiring the wireless one is that it can also operate your existing chime in the house too in addition to ringing on the homebase. Funnily, the wired version is not able to use existing chimes or so I was told.

      • +1

Correct, see spec sheet comparison linked below

  • Does anyone who owns one of these with a google nest hub know whether it can display it on the hub / chime the Google nest hub/minis when the doorbell button is pushed? Similar to the Ring with the Echo? And Nest Hello with the Hub.

I tried youtubing and they show the camera feed on the Google nest hub but I couldn't tell if they are showing just the camera feed or if it actually brings it up when the doorbell is pushed.

    • +1

I don't have this, but also looking at getting one. From my research, only the Nest Hello will auto show the feed on the nest hubs etc, but you can get the camera to display by asking google to show it. Not quite the ideal setup, but close. Hopefully either more companies will fully integrate with the hubs soon, or google will officially release the Hello down under!

      • I have this doorbell as well as a mix of google home hubs and Amazon echo shows. While you can ask either Google or alexa to "show me the doorbell" or front door or whatever you choose to name the device. However there is at least at 20 to 30 seconds delay before it shows the video feed.

There is also not an option to have Google home assistant devices act as a door chime, but you can with echo devices, be those echo dots, shows or other amazon echo speakers. You can't set 3rd party speakers like sonos one as a door chime.

You can use the same homebase 2 unit to run the security cameras, so I have bought 2 of the eufy cameras cheaper than needing to buy them with the base.
I had hoped that the soon to be released eufy fingerprint smart door lock would connect to the same home base 2, however it seems they aren't including that functionality on launch. The door lock connects directly to the phone app via Bluetooth meaning you can only control the lock when you are within Bluetooth range. I would have hoped with home base connectivity it would mean that Google home assistant or alexa would be able to control the lock via WiFi. Hoping this comes in a future software or firmware upgrade.
