3x Pieces of Hot & Spicy for $6.95 (Normally $9.90) @ KFC

420

Went to the KFC Drive Thru to buy 3x pieces of Hot & Spicy today, fully expecting to pay $9.90 (Single pieces are $3.30 at my local Glen Waverley KFC store). Went to pay and to my surprise it was only $6.95 !! That's only $2.31 per piece! Not the cheapest deal but good if you only want 3x pieces. Probably also applies to Original Recipe but not sure. FYI this is not in the KFC App or Website, you need to ask for it in store or drive thru.

*Edit, for those who are wondering if this is everywhere:
I got it from a different store today, same price :)

Same pieces again, rib / breast, drumstick and wing

That's still a pretty good price for what it is, and couple it with the survey chips and drink and that's pretty much a full meal there. Anyone know why it's $6.95 as opposed to the 3x single-piece price of $9.90?

    • Is the survey just once or every time u get a receipt?

      • +2

Can use each time you get a receipt.

I just write a random 5 digit number as it doesnt get verified at the register.

Server just presses a few buttons on the register and scrunches up receipt and throws in the bin.

        • I usually order online and survey asks for store number etc and I couldn't find so server had to help me…

          • @Jay408: app order usually without order number show initial of name

            • @a1234my: I have recently started using the app, how do i use the feedback rewards while i am ordering through an app? my 2 orders on the app so far i didnt use the feedback rewards. plus i dont get a receipt so how do i claim new feedback rewards on them?

              • +2

@lonewolf: I think the simplest way is to:

                1) select order through app

                2) pay through app

                3) go in-store to collect order

                4) bend down and pick up random receipt from floor

                5) write random 5 digit code on top of receipt

                6) next time, order in-store to use feedback reward

                • @andyman1908: haha, so technically you cant use the feedback reward when ordering via tha app? App has some items for a bit cheaper than ordering in store hence why last couple of times i used the app.

                  • +1

@lonewolf: I don't believe you can. You used to be able to when you could order online and pay in store (at the cash register you would mention the free chips and drink and they would add it). I've tried once when ordering and paying via app but they said they couldnt as the order is already been processed.

    • I asked for a reciept the other day just for this but it had no survey. Did they get rid of it cos of corona?

      • +1

The pre-printed dotted area to jot down your survey code has been removed, however on the back of the receipt the feedback advert is still there.
I just write "Survey Code: XXXXX" right above the order number and they have accepted it without an issue.
Certain staff will actually check the number (i.e do the math of the number right in front of you), so at the very least make sure that random number is div by 3.

        • +3

they can do 5 digit number division just like that …. ??? woohh
lots of time i have missing chicken pieces from large bucket.

          • +2

@a1234my: Verifying a number's divisibility by 3 is as simple as adding each individual number together. If that summation is divisible by 3 then so is the original number.

KFC prices have been jacked dramatically, especially if you don't use their app.

Their streetwise feast is gone, replaced by mixed feast.. $2.50 more and looses 2 pieces of chicken!

Pretty much going to switch exclusively to my local korean fried chicken place now.

    • +3

Korean fried chicken is amazinggggggg! Everyone must try, they have so many different flavours

      • I don't like korean fried chicked because its often too oily, I don't like the ginger taste and the spicy sauces use the chilli powder (I prefer fresh chillies).

      • +1

A lot of Korean fried chicken places make mediocre fried chicken. I can only recommend nene chicken

        • totally agree, the place i went to has mediocre fried chicken.

KFC has won my heart today, the original recipe piece was huge and delicious

    • +1

Totally agree and I have done the switch as well.

We're pretty much still eating KFC (Korean Fried Chicken)!

    • +1

I'd still have KFC over maccas anyday though!

    • +1

Korean fried chicken is nice, i love it but sadly its a lot more pricey for what you get.

      • +1

I ould buy Korean over Kentucky any day if money wasn't a problem (if it wasn't, I would probably never discover OzB in the first place). ~$32+ bucks for whole chicken!!!

In Kentucky, I spent ~$23, I get 12 pieces, 6 wings and 1 zinger fillet.

  • +3

I paid $14.95 for 12 pieces in the build your bucket menu. I had to order two more items so i ordered 2 lots of 6 wings at $4.95.

    • THANK UUU

    • this is what i do.

  • +7

Not a fan of this years hot n spicy, its basically original recipe pieces with wicked wings batter.

    • Maybe that's what the store you visited was doing, since they ran out of the proper batter?
H&S is available all year round in WA and I haven't noticed any change.

      • i thought pieces were frozen battered.

        • My local KFC uses fresh chicken. The hot and spicy chicken arrives at store with the spicy marinade on it, and then its battered in store and fried. Maybe in Stefce's case, they just used the unmarinated chicken with the hot and spicy batter (which is probably same as wicked wings)?

        • no way, it's fresh chicken and coated in store. Always has been…
I believe stores do have a backup supply of frozen chicken, but afaik that has to be thawed out and coated before it can be cooked anyway.

      • Might be different for WA.

        Crap now in VIC.

    • +5

completely agree H&S KFC its not spicy at all, very disappointed. Use to be my favourite dish at KFC.

    • Yep, they've changed it. Terrible.

  • Do you know where it is in the app? Can't find it.

    • +1

Sorry if I wasn't clear, this is not in the KFC app, you have to ask for it in store or Drive Thru

  • In Sydney, they have Cheap as Chips deal.

8 pieces of chicken, 6 nuggets, 2 sauces and basically any 4 sides. (It's 2 large chips and 2 potato and gravy but you can swap them out)

    $20.95

    • +14

I guess that might be OK but what do you order for the other people?

    • I wonder if you can swap it out to spicy chicken instead

      • +1

        Yes you can.

  • +1

Might be cheaper but it's a long way from being cheap ,, about $2,30 per piece compared to around $1.20 with the Tuesday 9 piece deal. AND two of the three pieces will likely be a wing and a drumstick, barely a mouthfull of chicken on either .. :-( .. !!

    • You must be one of those people that like the breast aka dry chicken tits.

  • I just had 6 peices and 4 of the sweet buns
4 out of the 6 was huge and juicy.

    • +1

      Huge juicy buns?

  • how big are these 3 pieces

    • Here was my 3x pieces. One large Piece (Rib piece), One Drumstick and One Wing.

      • +2

woooo, thats nice, i once ordered 3 piece in the past and they were tiny i wouldn't consider them a piece

            @Chickenleg: Username checks out x4

            • @mapax: I have always wondered but never bothered to ask till now, what does 'Username Checks Out' mean? Lol

              • @pacificstorm: It’s a joke for when a person makes a comment/post that is somehow relevant to their username.

Chickenleg commented on a deal about chicken, or if you commented on a storm people might say to you that your username checks out.

go to supermarket get some chicken wings or drummies eggs flour and Panko breadcrumbs and some sunflower oil come home and cook and voila better and cheaper than KFC

    • I asked a supermarket employee for the 11 secret herbs and spices, they kicked me out using covid as the excuse.

      Boycott!

    • yeah nah

Can anyone confirm that this is nationwide?

  • Can anyone else confirm this is available at any other store?

Finally got the chance to go down to my local in Sydney and can confirm this deal is available there, so it looks like it's available nationwide =D
Don't forget the feee chips and drink with the survey!

    • Thanks for confirming :)

  • Pretty sure this is the standard price? Quite a few times i've ordered the 3 pieces, and used a survey to get a cheap meal, been doing this at least since 2018.

Some kfc stores have the 3 piece pricing permanently on the board, and some stores don't, but if you ask for 3 pieces it should be that price.

  • +11

The app has a deal for 4 pieces for $6.95 but you have to fiddle with it. Add a burger combo then go back to the main screen. Open the subcart and add the 4 piece deal from the 'You may also like items'. You can then delete the burger combo.

    • +1

I actually tried ordering the 3 for $6.95 from the post, and the lady at the counter couldn't find it.

She gave me this add-on instead!

    • Yep that's a great hack. Hopefully it doesn't get too popular and they remove it like they did for this previous hack

      • isn't it the same thing but they integrated the deal as an add on rather than a stand alone that can be added onto cart by itself

    • Can confirm this works, but the actual OP post does not (at least in Riverton, WA). Asked in store how much they charge for 3x H&S and POS shows 3x $3.00 so thats a no go.

    • omg it forking worked, they also have the 6 wicked wings for 6.95

    • i couldnt get this to come up, my suggested items were useless things :(
Tried burger combo and burger box
