Meguiar's Autocosmetica Dual Action Car Polisher (+ $12.5 to Spend on Other Items) $145 (RRP $250) @ Repco

360

I was waiting for some good deal for a dual action car polisher and this seems to be pretty decent bargain. This polisher has good reviews and usually sells for $250. Currently its down to $187.50, add some other items worth $12.5 to make it $200 and get another $55 discount (brining the total price down to $145). Isn't it good idea to detail your car when you've got nothing to do in lockdown :)

  • what discs are recommended for this?

  • Can the Mequiars foam pads be used with this? Or is a backing plate needed aswell.
Repco seem to have 2 x different options

  • How does this compare with the Rockwell ShopSeries 180mm Multi-Function Car Polisher at SCA which has been as low as $57.97 previously (but regularly around the $80-90 mark)?

    • If you’re only doing a few jobs, take a look at this:

I did two entire cars with one and they came up really nicely. The only down side is that SCA doesn’t stock pads for it. Otherwise it’s a great little tool.

      • How have you solved for the stock pads? As I have this as well and it works fine, but I don't have any new pads for it.

What is this ⁉️ a polisher for Ants? 🐜

        • I’d rather go slowly. One of my cars has single stage paint and I wanted to be as gentle as possible.

That said it worked really well and although the head is small, that means it fits in smaller areas.

    • Rockwell one has 600W motor whereas this one has 900W. Haven't yet picked up mine so can't comment on performance.

    • It also doesn’t appear to be too different from this model which has a RRP of $149 https://www.autobarn.com.au/dual-action-car-polisher-180mm maybe the same manufacturer with a slightly different spec?

  • Very tempted to pick up my 15th polisher.

    • You know you really want the Big Foot though, right? :)

  • Would this be good for trying to buff out some scratches on my bumper? Or should I stick with wet and dry and some elbow grease?

    • depends how much time you have and how many times you think you'll be using it.

    • Of course

  • Just ordered one, does anyone know if this comes with any pads?

    • +1

It doesn’t come with pads, recommended pads are 5 inch microfibre ones

  • I'm pretty sure this isn't actually a Megs DA. The MT300 is the only one they make these days and this isn't one of those.

That's not to say it isn't a good deal - it looks like it is - but I even checked the Meguiar"s forum and searching for "autocosmetica" returned zero hits.

      • I guess, it's a bit weird though that it's not in the US, their home market. Maybe they're using Australia as a test market?

I'm quite tempted to get one, but it's been an expensive week and I have a Megs DA already…. though it's 110v, so something of a pain in the ass to use because I also need to get out the inverter. #FWP.

  • Can't find any review on this .

  • Ordered this late last night and it just got dropped off by a Repco staff this morning, instead of coming from a distribution centre. Can't believe how quickly I received it.

Didn't buy pads with it but will order some from eBay, will test it out in the coming weeks.

    • also interested, but new to polisher, what kind of pad should we looking at? MG's looks expensive to me.

      • I found 5 x 5" sponge pads on eBay for $12 delivered, might try those.

Opened the polisher earlier, it's actually pretty solid, and heavy.

      • I bought MG's cutting and finishing microfibre pads, they come in twin packs..after discount those end up around $16 bucks each, which is not too bad
