  • 10% isn't much…

But for Coles it's a huge saving (according to their published profit margins)! Plussed even though I live way too far from this store!

    • +1

What did the profit margins reveal?

      • +3

Probably that they are screwing over the public far less than the public thinks they are.

      • Apparently the big two usually run after all costs taken into account, store rent, staff wages, transport etc etc etc. Allegedly the profit margin generally runs about 5-10% off all products.

So the profits are usually based around just sheer volume…still doesn't stop their capitalistic freight train express though…

  • So do you print out the attachment and count that as the 'card' or is it a card that you have to physically pick up elsewhere? Isn't entirely clear in the post. Otherwise sounds pretty good

  • +1

Not entirely clear if they will accept printed 'cards'. I'm pretty sure that most check-out staff would just scan the barcode but I wouldn't be at all surprised if the odd one decided to consult with the manager who might reject it.

Anyway, it'd cost more than $5 in petrol for me to get there but many others who live nearby could benefit.

    • Not exactly a bad thing if your already shopping at chadstone, or go there with friend/family

      • I know, it's just that finding a place to park at Chadstone is such a hassle; the thought of that puts me off going there.

        • Yeah and then you got to find the shops you like lol

They have experienced a massive backlash on their Facebook about their "because we all buy meat" campaign. Scroll down through the comments and take a look.

I don't know what they were thinking going ahead with a campaign like this when there are so many vegetarians/vegans around. Poor marketing.

    • Seems like a small but recurring bunch of people posting angry comments on the wall. .

    • +2

Just added my voice to that bunch. I'm not a vegetarian, but I find the "we all buy…" campaign offensive. It just reinforces outdated stereotypes to raise Coles profits. Changed my buying habits & now know where "we all buy…" - Coles competitors!

      • yea i agree, the "because we all buy" campaign is not smart at all..

  • Yeah it gets my goat too coz we dont all buy cereal Im 100% carnivorous

  • I might shop at Aldi and save $30 - $40 go Aldi

    • just buy the item on sale that have discount 50%, then pay using gift card that you purchase with 5% discount + this $5 off, then you are the winner. when coles / Woolworths do their sales 50%off++, i think their price is cheaper than aldi price.

I know about the Gruen Transfer parody…but I'm waiting for someone to do a 'We all buy anti-depressants' parody…because everyone on the ad seems so damn happy, I can't figure it out…
