Waiting for 240gig to go on sale

Boost are not doing this deal anymore to new customers - Grab it while it lasts

    • +5

I was told by Boost that this will still be available by buying a $2 sim card and select $150 to activate this deal.

      • +1

        $152 > $140

      • +6

Not if you activate after 10 August.
        https://boost.com.au/shop/150-prepaid/

        • Anyone know if there might be a new better deal to replace it coming, or whether only the dearer plan will be available?

          • @SeeTheLight: targeted offer I took advantage of yesterday for Woolies and associated staff members (Big W, ALH hotels, Dan Murphys etc)

84G 365 day expiry plan is normally $150

            with 10% staff discount - $135

but if you buy starter sim in store you get 50% staff discount and pay the rest during activation.
            so i bought $50 starter pack for $25 and paid $90 ($100 - 10%) online for a total of $115

for non-staff you also get up to $500 discount on your years woolies shopping with the base $150 deal.
each month (after the first two i believe) you get 10% discount on up to $500 single shopping spend in store.

Note: i'm technically associated with Woolies as I work in an ALH hotel.

        • What if I activate $150 starter pack, which expires in 2022, after August 10th? How can they not honor it? I should be able to activate it anytime before expiry date mentioned on it.

          • @OZBsince2018: There is a huge confusion in this regard. Boost has not been very clear about it. It is quite possible that when you attempt to activate after 10 August, you would just get $150 as "credit" in your SIM to be used for "any valid plan at that point in time".

The SIM packs usually mention that offers may be withdrawn at any point in time, so the "Expiry" doesnt matter. This Expiry is usually for the hardware (SIM Card) that can be used to activate in a mobile handset.

It's best to call up Boost Mobile and ask this question. Tell them you already have a pack with Expiry mentioned as 2022.

            • @djoz: Agree. To be safe, i will activate it before 10th August

      • How is it possible to activate $150 plan if it is not being offered by Boost anymore? If I buy $2 SIM and activate it online, will I see the $150 plan as an option there?

    • Nice try Boost

  • Can we buy this now and use it at the year?

    • I believe you can't use it at all after the 10th of August if you already have one activated you can recharge on the website with the 150 recharge but I don't think you can activate a purchased recharge.

Anyone else intrprate difrently. From boost link

      • +3

I think that is for recharging an existing $150 plan at it's expiry. These ones OP is selling say Expiry Feb 2022, so as long as you activate before then you get 12 mths.
That's how I see it anyway. Boost would have to offer refunds if they weren't going to honour the terms on the packet surely.

        • +1

          $10 Profit that way 😂

        • +1

This is correct. This was confirmed from Boost.

  • When will they be sent if we order? I would need it by Thursday.

or once you paid and send email to me ,[email protected]

      That's great. Email sent.

      Thanks.

    • Bought one for calling home in Vietnam :)
      Thanks.

  • +5

What happened to DO NOT POST ON OZBARGAIN!? lol

    • +1

I came here to say the same. I literally saw that note in their website today, so decided not to post it. Clearly they've taken that down now.

  • Hi rep,

Thanks for posting a great deal!

Mine and missus's plans (both Boost) due to expire in August and September respectively, please confirm if we'd be able to get 150 recharge for another year, i.e. here https://boost.com.au/shop/150-prepaid/

Or should we get this deal?

    Thanks!

    • Maybe someone can confirm if Recharge stacks after current expiry date.

      • +1

No, it will overwrite whatever days/data was left and start fresh.

Same with most of these 6/12 month prepaid plans.

        • +1

Aldi $99 plan data rolls over. I was surprised when I recharged my son's ALDI $99 plan September last year to a new one, that the remaining data rolled over /was kept when I recharged.

          • @Mickp10: Thanks for extra info. That's why I said most, thought there would be the odd few who do this as point of difference to get competitive edge ( hard to keep up with 10+ current telco offers lol ).

I have just ported over to Aldi first time in more than 4 years for the good value ( 30 day expiry and data roll over ) in their monthly recharges, good to know the 12 month ones roll over too ( although I don't think many people will have any remaining data on the $99 15GB/365 day plans ).

  • +1

Can this be used to recharge?

    • +1

No. Can port out and in.

  • +2

Hadn't realised they were getting rid of the $150 12 month! What's everyone jumping on for 12 months in its place?

    • +6
      • Well, I see people jumping in a hurry to buy $150 plan. But what if the mid-August new plans are better? I think Boost has realised that 80GB for the year is a deterrent and it may be losing customers due to the low data allowance.

I'm guessing a $180/year plan with 120GB data.I think that's more value than the current $150 plan but yeah it again depends on what your requirements are. Currently, Boost is the cheapest option for Overseas Calling, when coupled with these occasional offers, works out to be < $10/28 days without SIM hopping.

  • What a stitch up. The reason I was with Boost was for the $150/80gb/12mth deal.
Now the price has doubled on me. Where to now.

    • +4

      $150 PREPAID RECHARGE
80GB FOR 12 MONTHS. RECHARGE AVAILABLE TO CUSTOMERS WHO ACTIVATE BEFORE 10 AUGUST

This suggests $150 recharge it will be available if you are active on the deal by Aug 10

    • +1

You can still recharge at $150 for at least the next month and probably after that.

      • Yeh dont need to recharge until Sept, hopefully still active…

        • Who knows in these uncertain times, might get more data and/or less money even, but would not hold my breath.

    • +3

How on earth did you figure the price has doubled ?

      • They haven't announced any new deals (so where did you get double from?)
      • You can still recharge (at least once it appears) if you're already on this deal
      • Boost has consistently lowered prices, not increased them. Our biggest issue has been 'locking in' a higher price when the next boost deal ends up being lower.. not higher..
      • +1

Fully agree. That's why I am not getting this deal and quietly expect the new offer to be cheaper/offer more included data.

Not a sure thing, but most telcos seem to upping their data inclusions.

Internet/telco companies are booming/profiting nicely from the new Government C19 draconian rules and acts.

  • +1

Should I buy this now or wait till August to see Boost new prepaid offers?

    • +2

      🔮 🔨 🤷🏼‍♂️

    • +2

      "PeeDee" Was wondering the same.

  • +1

I just got off the phone to Boost, and the lady there told me that to port from Telstra post-paid I'd first have to switch to pre-paid and then port across with one of the $2 sim cards you can buy. Can anybody confirm this? It seems to contradict what I have read in many other places (including Boost's web site) which states that you need to order the special SIM from them in order to port across.

    Any ideas?

    • +1

Nah, pretty sure you can do Telstra post-paid to Boost prepaid directly. However I know same carrier ports are a pain in the ass and require the companies do call each other up to provide some information.

    • +3

You can switch to Telstra pre-paid plan and port-in to the Boost sim you have. Did that last week and no extra sim card needed.

    • I was told the same… be prepared to wait on hold to telstra to switch from post paid to prepaid

    • Any ideas?

when i needed to port from Optus to Optus i got a $2 telstra sim for a couple of days instead of risking problems.

perhaps get a $2 vodaphone or optus sim

  • -8

Try before you buy, horrible coverage

    • +5

So Telstra has horrible coverage? Which provider has the best coverage? Just curious.

      • +1

Not sure where you got the horrible coverage understanding but the conventional wisdom is T's coverage is pretty good and especially when you're not in a CBD area (e.g. regional). Optus and Voda coverage is seen as pretty good in those areas but can be poor (compared to T) in the regional spaces.

It all does depend on what part of the "product" you are trying to use.

e.g. phone calls (3G/4G) are one thing. data speeds are another thing..

        • I know. I was commenting on foxxo' comment.

      • -2

This is not the same as Telstra coverage. Im using boost right now, stuck with them for a year unfortunately. I've been on vodaphone and Optus resellers Kogan and Aldi mobile with full reception in Brisbane CBD and suburbs as you'd expect from ALL of them. This is not regional farmland.

It is slow and drops out not only at my home, friends places and work. It is literally the worst network, I'm using the same phones on all three networks, Nokia 7.1 and work iPhone X.

        • I only get two bars in suburban Canberra with boost. No issues with data but I dont do 4k streaming etc.

        • +1

I think you've got it all wrong buddy.
Kogan and Aldi mobile are not Optus resellers (if that's what you meant)
          Kogan is Vodafone
Aldi mobile is Telstra Wholesale (less coverage compared to Boost)
And the name is Vodafone and not Vodaphone.

    • +5

      This is all location dependant.

Boost's coverage is terrible in Antarctica.

      • +1

        • -1

          -1

      • Hence me saying try before you buy, which I failed to do myself, trusting "it's Telstra".

  • +2

Just bought a Boost Sim card recently. I had been waiting ages to transfer s number from Vodafone. Their call centre doesn't answer because they have reduced service due to covid.
Maybe I made a mistake to choosing them.

    • +1

That’s weird. I ported over to boost from Vodafone and it was all done automatically within about 20 minutes.

      • I tried porting from Optus to Telstra, Boost and Vodafone with already purchased in my hand valid starter packs through their online websites, and got messages to call or contact live chat. When I call them or contact via live chat, no help due to covit or my account history of regular porting for many years using cheap/discounted sim starter packs.

Vodafone did answer the call, but told me I had to send an email to contact them in order to port, so I gave Aldi a try and that worked no probs online in less than 30 mins before port was finalised.

Did you have to port via email too with Vodafone, or they want to slow me down due to too much porting and no loyalty lol ?

        • +1

The same here - I cannot contract Boost because the live chat and calls are not attended due to COVID. Still waiting to be connected! Shocking!

      • Still waiting!! So frustrating!

  • Thanks. Great deal. Just bought 2.

  • -1

So if I'm a current boost customer, can I buy one of these vouchers and recharge tomorrow to continue my plan for another year?

    • This is not a voucher, so the answer is "No".

  • For the boost 12month plan what happens if the data expire before 12 months? Can i just recharge data?how much?

  • Thanks.. ordered 1 .. cheers

  • I am already on the same plan ,if I can recharge it with this sim. My plan is expiring in oct. 2020 so do not want to buy in advance if I can recharge from coles and will be ready to use. I am ok for spending 150$. Maybe dumb ques but me v poor in these things. Need to know if I need to port out or just need to recharge with voucher. Thanks.

    • +1

This deal is not a recharge voucher. You can only use this if you port out and back in (or get a new number).

You can no longer get a $150 voucher at Coles. $150 recharges can be only be done directly with Boost. I don't know for sure whether the $150 option will still be available for current customers in October or if you'll have to go with whatever their new options will be after 10 August.

  • Noticed your store is located in Adelaide, is pick up/purchase in-store available?

  • -1

Big price increase with new plans. I know two $150 (paid $130) customers who will be looking for a new SP as we hardly use data. Will revert to cheapest mobile provider and use VOIP provider using GSWave app for international calls instead of getting new Boost plan.

    • How do you know there's big price increase?

      • -4
        • +4

They've always had that deal alongside the $150 one man. Sometimes down to $250

So no, you don't know anything about the new plans.

        • The 240 GB option has been $300 for ages.

  • Where dem new plans at?

    • +1

      August.

  • -1

Shipping charge, for $150 Boost deal ?

Difficult concept to grasp that 3G & 4G consumer cost is on increase, maybe 5G?

    • +1

      What?

  • +2

    according our meeting with boost
new plan may launch on Aug
the price would not be cheaper like $150 !
it will increase to $180 something as far as I know !

    • Do you still have stock available? I am in Sydney, how many days will it take to reach me?

  • I got a boost 2$ sim, and a coles recharge voucher(150$) a few months ago, valid till Aug 2021. with this policy update, would that voucher also be invalidated from 10 Aug then, and I should then activate by 10 Aug to prevent it?

    • See below link which may help to answer:
      https://boost.com.au/shop/150-prepaid/

As I understand (please correct me if I am wrong) $150 voucher will still be available for all existing customers and also for those customers who activate SIM before 10th August. Any new number or numbers ported in after 10th August won’t be eligible for $150 recharge.

    • I am in the same situation (bought it from Coles). However the information is confusing. Has anyone checked with the Boost officially? I will like to know answer before August. My Aldi 365 plan will finish in November, so I hope I can port to Boost at that time.
      Thanks

  • Guys, those who are interested in this offer, can simply buy a $2 SIM from any retailer and purchase $150 recharge from Boost from below link. It is still available for customers who activate before 10th August:

    https://boost.com.au/shop/150-prepaid/

    • -1

What is the expiry on $150 recharge possibilities? I know the recharge will be for 12 months but i want to know how long i can delay the start of a prepurchased recharge.

Reason being it is not clear we will be able to recharge after 10 August. Looks to me like all recharge options for this plan will be terminated afer 10 August.

      • +1

They cannot. If you purchased a $150 recharge voucher, which has an expiry mentioned on it, they can’t expire it before that.
My understanding is that the 10th August deadline is for Activation of new numbers. They will sell $150 recharge vouchers till then but only those users will be able to recharge their numbers on $150 vouchers who are existing users as of 10th August. I could be wrong too.

        • So in short you have no idea when the expiry of current recharge vouchers is.

All a bit non transparent. Time to move on me thinks.

  • Unravelling the abstract Information I can assume the following…
If you buy this deal and activate before 10th August you will have the opportunity to recharge in 12 months time for $150,
alternatively if you activate after 10th of August you will in 12 months time not be offered the $150 recharge, but instead
be offered their new pricing structure, which no doubt will be more expensive.

  • Has anyone got any confirmation of shipment? Order placed last Friday. No email invoice. Unable to contact supplier through email or mobile number.
