We're all screwed up

In the UK it is is said that 1 in 4 people has a mental health problem. This means that 3 in 4 don't. This is simply not true. We all have our screw ups. Maybe what we should say is that 1 in 4 people is currently experiencing some kind of mental health problem that is getting in the way of their day-to-day lives.

[ebook] - We're all screwed up:

Is this the Victorian edition ?

      Correction. Andrews’s government edition.

      • +1

Yes, that in the 2020 edition.

its well known that the uk has a problem in counting anything - most notably lately its dead.

3 out 4 English people have mental problems probably more accurate, and we ship em in preferentially to run our country, as white government policy.

logically that means that 3 out of 4 oz pollies are also severely lacking upstairs, which means sadly we are all screwed.

and we can all see that - and no self help book is going to save us

  • I'm going to make a fortune selling my $0 Kindle books "Speak for yourself, buddy!" and "Get yourself professional help if you are struggling with mental illness!" in response.

professional help from whom? the mentally ill in oz get bugger all help now, and since the new English imports are running down our public health system - well the final solution is already being prepared. They just let them die in England. And that's why the negs are flying…

Do you understand that asking someone that has mental illness to be fit enough to objectively diagnose and treat themselves isn't just cruel, it's unrealistic? The ones that are lucid enough to try to help themselves don't have the tools, and aren't going to learn them from a damn free book. They are probably more likely to fail and become depressed on top of whatever issue they had to start with.

I agree that mental health here is a joke and in need of fixing. But people trying to cash in on people's problems and insecurities by writing self-help books that mostly can't succeed are part of the problem, not the solution.

        • i agree totally

          • @petry: What should be a big red flag is that the author doesn't present his credentials but rather a nice big legal disclaimer at the start.

            • @syousef: yeah but its free and that's all the mentally ill in australia count for thse days - nothing.

All mental health facilities should be legally required to file mandatory police reports about assaults, thefts, drug abuse and rapes reported by patients and carers. Till then the poor bastards supposedly being cared for are just hostages in hell.

Federal government doesn't care, state governments don't care, no health safeguarding authority gives a damn either. Only the police can help those innocents trapped in real life hells.

Mental health is a continuum. We are better off looking at it like physical fitness, doing what we can to maintain positive mental health rather than only focusing on treatment when we struggle.

      • +1

This book gives you none of that.

I may have a mental illness collecting all these free book I'm never going to read

    • The only known treatment is surgical, Add-another-eBook-tomy.

    • You are not the only one.

  • The 2nd book is not free anymore on the US site.

    • Or the Australian site…

  • How could I miss it!
