Bagworld - Samsonite Cosmolite 74cm @ $486.85 - RRP $749

90

I was looking to buy a luggage as I'm about to travel overseas. There is a current sale in Myer for Samsonite luggage. I looked at bagworld.com.au as I bought from them before and to my delight, their Samsonite Cosmolite range is cheaper :)

Just want to share the information for anyone who is interested.

I've used these guys before, and they are pretty good with aftersales service etc., but Bagworld would be fine I'm sure.

    • thanks that's a nice one as well .. maybe the 85 cents is for the luggage scale :D

i really don't get it why ppl would spend so much on luggage? Just plain crazy! It just increase your risk of getting stuff stolen as i'm sure thieve will pick the branded luggage first. Plus The zip on the expensive luggage just as easily to open as the reject shop one…don't believe me? Try it yourself with a pen..if you still don't know how, youtube it!

Do you travel much? I travel heaps for work, and if you did you'd recognise the value of decent luggage that can survived more than 5 minutes with the morons in baggage handling. I had a couple of $100 suitcases from Victoria Station, one lasted 5 flights, the other about 10. My samsonite has lasted 7 years (>25 flights a year) so far, the only battle damage being rubber marks like someones kicked it - but otherwise its perfectly fine.

If you don't travel often, a cheap one will do. Those who travel more frequently will appreciate the durability of a more expensive bag, not to mention the smoother and longer-lasting wheels. A spinner (bag with 4 wheels) is MUCH easier on the arms and shoulders too.

it's a bit like cheap tools. A casual DIY'er would be perfectly satisfied with an XU10 or GMC or Ryobi drill, while a tradie would just laugh at them with their Makita or Hitachi in hand.

Completely agree. Wouldn't want my suitcase to fall apart halfway. Also, take any suitcase for a test-drive before buying, with weight in it. Bought a $150 "Monsac" from Myer (supposedly made by Delsey), very manouvrable when empty, but put any weight in it and it becomes a nightmare. Although I do think that $485 might be overdoing it, I do not believe you can get a decent suitcase for under $200.

I don't know if I want to throw a $486 bag at the baggage handlers and be worried all flight about the baggage - a $100 suitcase allows me to use without worrying for 5years or so..

A good suitcase will last 20 years.. buying quality pays for something that's going to get abused..

I recently paid a fortune for my 3rd crumpler bag.. which was a suitcase/bag thing.. it went to the congo and back being abused to shit and came out begging for more abuse ;)

A bag like that screams class and distinction to the world.

  • I'm voting for the spending more can be worthwhile

two macpacs dragged around the world for 8 months (and thats literally sometimes), still in good nick - and ready for the next time

The baggage cost is way over the top here in Aussie. My relatives from US say it's much cheaper over there, so they advise us to travel light and buy it there.

Something to think if you intend to go to the USA.
