Suggestions for Farewell Party in Sydney

Hi all,
I'll be leaving my current place of work next week, to move on to a different opportunity.

Some of my colleagues have suggested that I get some mates around for a farewell/goodbye catch up. I've never really been good at these social things but I think it'll be fun.

At this stage I'm planning to get approx 10 colleagues around, mostly from teh same team so we would know one another. But does anyone have any suggestions on what we could do? We could just do drinks at a pub (Recommendations), or perhaps we can go to like a Korean BBQ or hotpot dinner/lunch in Strathfield area perhaps?

Does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions on what activity/ies we could do as a team? 10 is probably too many for an escape room? Also, equal mix of guys and girls, if that matters.

Looking forward to your suggestions and recommendations!

Thanks

Why are you organising your own farewell?

10 is probably too many for an escape room?

Not necessarily, depends on the place

    • Colleagues want to organise. They just asked me what I prefer

  • Party hats, ice cream cake and a jumping castle if space allows

  • Axe throwing?
Get him to stand next to the target /s

Uh how about you avoid unnecessary social contact?

If it's within guidelines and appropriate measures are taken then it should be fine. It's Sydney not Melbourne so risk is quite a bit less.

      • The guidelines are still one person per four metres for businesses which make gatherings pointless unless you want to shout at each other all night.

That is precisely how it starts…."Oh we will be fine"

        • Yeah, family gatherings and parties are the hardest to track and infect the greatest/fastest.

Ironically the best way to help/prevent problems is to just have someone bring a thermometer with you to the party and test people with it, as that is most of what health services were doing before the most recent outbreak in Victoria.

          • @MilkDrinker: Do you really want the awkward job of having to kick someone out when they've made the effort to come to your party, just because they're a little bit warmer than average?

            • @ssquid: Do you really want the awkward job of having to explain to someone's family that you let someone in when they had a higher temperature and passed COVID-19 to another coworker with vulnerable members?

@Seasoned Salt: No, I would choose neither and not hold a party in the middle of a pandemic.

Work out a budget. Divide by 10. Get each colleague to contribute calculated amount. Take cash. Run. You will likely in the next 6 months never speak to or see these people again.

Old Mate's Place in the CBD is a really nice venue with a rooftop bar as well. Would recommend.

I like the irony of an Escape Room Farewell Party - "you can't get away from op going away".

Just make a clean break and save yourself the time and cash. If they’re just work mates you’ll never see them again, despite any promises you’ll make

what's your company policy at the moment?
The risk is low but I'm sure the company doesn't like the risk of all your colleagues catch the virus at the same time.

Zorbing. Great for social distancing. Zorb up to the table, reach your hand out and get food and drink while keeping social distance.
