Is it safe enough to buy second hand switch games off gumtree / facebook if usual precautions are taken? Would you check the games before handing over the cash? Or alternately any good websites for buying 2nd hand games? EB / JB is ridiculous, 2nd hand costs more than new on the nintendo e shop.
Thanks
Buying Second Hand Switch Games

I sell games on gumtree all the time and some people test the game before hand and some don't.
If they want to post to you then pay Via PayPal to get some protection and pay for express post as well.
Sorry forgot to add and Facebook market place too :)
Switch is literally the safest platform to buy games on second hand as you can bring the console with them to test before you fork over the cash
Agreed
Thanks yeah I thought of doing that but wasnt sure if that would be considered weird :P
You can ask the potential seller if it is OK to bring your console to test.
If they are flakey with your response or don't seem to be very cooperative then it is a good omen to walk away from the sale.
I have purchased many items off Gumtree, and with sellers to agree to test before buy, I have had no issues with the purchase.
Many are co-operative however you get the small minority that gives Gumtree a bad name. Hence the adequate screening process is mandatory.
You can get some awesome bargains with experience.
Cheers
I've used CEX a bit for buying (and selling) games including Switch - https://au.webuy.com/ - it's easier for me as there is a store near me but they also operate online as well.
must have better prices in store, online prices are like buying brand new… or more than brand new.

I'd consider just buying them new if possible.
69 is a pretty standard price here, but with new games very few people sell second hand for less than $50 from what I've seen (for the big first party games).
Once you factor in shipping the price difference is generally not good enough to justify any risks (I.e if the case gets smashed while in post).
eBay would be best bet for customer protection but once you factor in the high resale value and delivery charges then you're back to square one. Keep an eye out on Amazon sales but in general, Switch games are expensive and always will be.
