I sent back my Apple Watch with accessories for warranty, but I didn’t get them back. It wasn’t fixed either. What can I do?

I was having battery issues with my Apple Watch: a full charge was lasting about half a day. After going to an Apple store and restoring to factory settings this couldn't get resolved either, so I was asked to send the Apple watch for repair.

I sent the watch back in its original box, including all the accessories (charger, wristband), just as it was purchased.

I received my Apple watch back in a white box without any accessories back. To make things worse, they only restored to factory settings again and the battery issues remain.

I called them telling about this requesting that I least want my accessories back. They state that for warranty returns they dispose of any "unneeded items for repair" and therefore they cannot return my accessories. All I can do is purchase them again. This got escalated to a "supervisor" which gave the same answer.

Any ideas on what options do I have?

Edit: My bad for not reading the T&C…nothing I can do? Also, my watch had a tiny scratch, which is still there. So I’m sure it’s the same one. Just without accessories and still with the battery issues.

From the Apple Watch Service and Repair Page

Get ready for Apple Watch service

    • Charge your Apple Watch.
    • Unpair your Apple Watch from your iPhone.
    • Remove your band and keep it along with your charging cable and other accessories. You’ll need these after your Apple Watch service.
    • Make sure you know your Apple ID and password.

Lol. It pays to read the t&c.

This. I had to send my watch in for replacement. It is made very clear not to send everything back. They did not steal anything. This is often the case for electronic returns.

Apple can take my kidney for all i care.

Pays a price to have the fruit we weren't supposed to have.

  • Lost is likely, not sure how you assert it to be theft.

How do you know you received 'your' (e.g. the same) watch back in a different box? Usually only replacements come in blank-boxes.

Any product returned to them is replaced by a 'blank-boxed' equivalent. Normally they are swapped in the store and accessories are worked out by the consumer. It is probably policy as when you think about it staff shouldn't have to handle earbuds, etc.

Their messaging around returning devices is deliberate and clear- as they don't want to be responsible for data loss during the repair/replacement process. Same goes for accessories, esp. as many devices include earbuds, sweaty watch-bands, and these days, Sars Cov2 virus.

And, Why All The Capitals, Do!You!Think! We!Can't!Read?!

Your options depend on how you handed it over, and when. You only say you 'sent it in for repair', this is most unclear.

  • While it sucks you had your stuff chucked by not reading the terms and conditions you may have a chance by going back to the store in person (not in full Karen) and ask a floor manager for the items to be replaced.

    Might get lucky.

  • Just go on their chat. They eventually seem to give in on there more than in person and on the phone.

I've also had issues with my apple watch battery. I had to send it off to the 3 times before they sent me a brand new one. Each time it was sent off they just returned it and said there was nothing wrong.

The watch you got back probably wasn't even the one you sent. They won't open up your Apple watch to fix. The one you got would be a refurbished/new watch in a white box.

When you open a support case you get clear instructions on what to send and even how to pack your faulty item. Clearly you ignored all that so no point blaming Apple.

Call AppleCare. Ask to speak to customer relations - refuse to accept what they tell you until you get a satisfactory answer. (Source, I may have worked for an Apple supplier in a past life.)

Title change: I sent my accessories back to Apple when the instructions said not to.. what do I do now?

Unfortunately, I'd have to agree with everyone else saying you've messed up.

If you're near an Apple Store, you could try (politely!) talking to the staff there. A couple of times when I've had minor problems that might not strictly qualify for warranty service, I've done this and had success with getting replacements.
Just be persistent, and you will likely get what you're asking for as long as it's within reason.

Go in store. They might give you replacements on accessories at a discount. If not go to the store entry and put the watch on the floor. Pull out a hammer and start smashing it. Then just walk out. Ok that's extreme. You messed up. Not much you can so other then to try and ask nicely to store manager for replacement or discount.
