Perfect entry level amp to go with all the guitars everyones been buying, this is more than loud enough for when you want to annoy your neighbours, while still having headphone out for when you don't.

The 100W version would be more suited if you already have a few pedals etc as it has an effects loop built in.

These are not the MK2 versions of the amps, but IMO the savings here are worth the $150-200 extra you'd pay for Mk2 and some minor revisions

These are ridiculously good for the money, I wish they had them when I was a kid, I spent more money just on pedals and this has all the pedals built in! Plus a good amp which would cost more than 250 alone. It's a great time to be a beginner guitarist. If you're in a rock/metal band spend the extra for a 100 watt I'd say, nice to have that headroom at high volumes.

Great price. I have an mk2 100w in an indie/synthpop band and it's the best amp I tried for getting a clean dreamy sound without being piercing or not defined. Definitely recommend especially at this price

    These are great little amps.

Like above, I wish these were out in my gigging days. Would have been much easier than lugging my Fender deluxe around everywhere.

Bright onion pedals actually make a handy little footswitch for these. Not cheap, but a great product

If you're looking to buy one, get on this ASAP, they've been out of stock now for a couple of months

As others have said, Katana's are very good amps for the money. Even the Mk1 versions.

  • I have a Roland Cube 20XL amp and some sort of multieffects floor pedal (probably the Boss ME-50 but can't remember right now) but I could never get the nice tone that I wanted.. Is it just my lousy guitar skills or would this amp make a difference? Do I need the 100W version?

    • I haven't tried the cube but the amp definitely makes a big difference to tone. It's still just a speaker at the end of the day, doesn't matter how much you do you can't make a speaker sound better/different.

Thanks OP, Bought. Now time to look for tele/strat deal

    • +2

if you havent already, check out Artist Guitars for their Tele. Has rave reviews and ridiculous pricing.

      • Agreed, they are excellent value for money Tele-Style guitar, only thing to be aware of is they're pretty hefty! Heavy slabs of wood.

  • I have a dsl1c and fly 3 blackstar which I'm not terribly happy with? Do I buy this?

  • I have the MK2 100 head to replace my old Marshall MG100HDFX that stopped working, and it is a really great and versatile amp, it just seems near impossible to get a good raw and clear heavy sound for heavier music. Other than that I highly recommend this line of amps, as they have a pretty complex set of effects built in that you can also modify and add new effects using software on your computer.

    • Have you seen the Studio Rats on YouTube? They have a heap of videos on how the effects work and how to dial in sounds.

      • Nah, I haven't seen them, maybe I should give them a go. I find myself just plugging into my little Marshall MG15 amp when playing anything heavier as I just can't get the Boss to sound clear enough.

  • Out of stock unfortunately. My amp search goes on. My son has an acoustic guitar bit plays electric at school. He is getting my brother in law's C-1 SGR by Schecter as he's just upgraded. Looking for an amp to pair with it. This would have been perfect.

Anyone else get an email saying they're out of stock after ordering :(

Mine was delivered today, and to my surprise they sent me the 100Mk2 instead of the 100 - stoked!

    • for real?

      • +1

For real real - unsure why they didn't just refund instead as the Mk2 retails for $550ish
