  • Daaaaamn if my housemate hadn't just bought a 42" LG TV I'd be looking at this. Anyone know if the Yellow Sub Pixel makes any real difference?

    • +1

reviews i've heard suggest it makes no difference at all and is just a gimmick…

      • im sure it does make a little difference, lik 0.01% but not noticeable to the human eye. lol

      • yellows are supposed to more vivid. Best go into a shop and get them to compare two similarly specced LED LCDs

  • $896 including free shipping through their online store: http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/plasma-lcd-tvs/led-lcd-tv/sha…

Since it says "ask for a deal!" with $896 crossed out in their catalogue, it appears they're willing to reduce the price further if you buy in-store.

  • Sharp TV's are famous in Japan for thier quality. My 40" LED number hasn't skipped a beat. Looks like a good deal.

  • I have one of these ($960 at Bing Lee a few months ago) and I am very happy with it. To be honest I haven't noticed the yellow pixel making a damn bit of difference, but then I guess you only can notice such things when it is next to a competitor in the shop, and it therefore irrelevant at home.
Also, the sound is pretty average, for TV it is fine, but for movies and games you had better have a separate sound system.

  • I placed an order a week ago online. Still waiting for stock.

Was starting to wonder why nobody posted this good deal anywhere.

I'm starting to wonder why you didn't post it here yourself. :P

  • Why would you need a yellow pixel ???

I like how you put a link in case none of us have used the internet since 2001 :P

        • :)

        • Haha, I just wanted to emphasise the yellow smiley symbol, which has been around since 1963, rather than run-of-the-mill emoticons. :)

  • Does anybody know if its a Smart TV with apps and stuff like new sony, samsung TVs

    • +1

Don't think it has any of that stuff. If you want a Samsung LED 46", I picked one up from Good Guys for $999 about two weeks ago. Series 6 100hz model.

  • Saw 55" model at JB last weekend. Side-by-side comparison to other manufacturers' top-of-the-line models , the color does seem more vibrant and dynamic. Not sure if its the extra yellow pixel but I definitely preferred the Sharp over the others. Also Sharp is probably the only manufacturer who still has 3 year warranty vs 1 year of all others… that is potentially $100 for extended warranty saved.

Down side is the fat bezel really looks terrible IMO… even my older generation Sharp TV at home looks heaps better

I remember reading that the yellow pixel leads to oversaturation and odd contrasts (something like that).
I would research before picking up one of these.

I think we will see better deals at Christmas time and most TV's are coming with smart capabilities. Another good option is 42" LG full hd smart LED, that was $699 at harvey normans and some people got it for $640. it had great reviews for picture quality.

I have not seen any of the 4 colour screens in person and haven't looked into reviews much on them either, but I did read an AV guy's opinion on the extra colour. If my memory serves me well, basically if they have to pick another colour to produce, then yellow isn't one that would be of the most use in terms of making the different colours in the light spectrum, as the 3 primaries already produce yellow relatively effectively. That said, regardless of whether it does or doesn't improve picture quality, it's still quite a good deal for a quality TV :)

  • I was gonna pick one of these up when "Clive Peters" were having their closing down sale for $888 but I ended up buying one of those smart LG LED 3D TV's. Might check this out, could be good in the bedroom

  • I have one of the latest Sharp tv's and the yellow pixel makes a huge difference in terms of metalic colours like golds and brass, they look so real life with the depth and brightness of the colour that no other brand can compete. I have to admit though on regular viewing (such as news and sports etc) you may not see that much of a difference. If you want the best colour quality all round def go with one of these Sharp tv's.
