Isn't this an insane deal or is it just me?

    • it is not really if you check the G9 deal…

      • Only 3 left ATM

        • Some camera stores selling it for $2700.

          • @KOBH: than get it!

          • +1

            @KOBH: I must resist!

            • +1

              @qzcbmo: No, I'm a Canon fan.

          • +1

            @KOBH: Offering maybe, not selling.

            PS Amazon now: TZ90 $299

            • @IVI: That's a great price for the DC-TZ90GN-S! An earlier version of it the DC-TZ90 was voted the worlds best travel camera by many magazines at the time. It's a brilliant camera.

        • did you get one?

          • @qzcbmo: I'll stick to mine GX85, G9 is a bit of an overkill for me

      • Which one?

Some folks here managed to pick these up last month for cheaps, $230.88

Always been a Sony Alpha man myself so can't comment if these are any good. I know Olympus recently folded and are no longer making cameras.

    • They didn't fold, they just dropped the digital camera part of their business. They still produce stuff in the scientific, medical and industrial sectors, much of which involves optical equipment (microscopes, monitoring equipment etc.)

      • And Eneloops! How on earth could I forget that?

        • Eneloop is Sanyo and Panasonic not Olympus

          • @serideth: Well there you go, that's how I could forget it :) It was listed under Olympus on one site I visited, so not sure where that came from.

        • Xbox gamer? Haven't needed AA's for years.

          • @Mickice: Lol you don't have a clock at home or have TV remotes?

    • Dam that sucks, but it was expected. AFAIK, Olympus only design and make cameras with Micro Four Thirds. They never decided to release a full frame camera line up.

      LONG LIVE MINOLTA!!

  • Is the Panasonic Lumix Bridge Lumix Hi-Zoom DC-FZ80GN-K elgato cam link 4k compatible? Clean hdmi feed and unlimited battery time?

Have you seen the G9 deal? That's incredible. Includes the 12-35mm 2.8 which is a workhorse lens for this camera. $1599

GONE! GREAT, SAVED $1599. SO SAD!

      • Sorry to say, I ended up picking up one of the last three. It was too good to pass up

        • +1

CONGRATS MATE, yes it is basically $700 ish lens for free..

          • @qzcbmo: There is the difference of getting lens free and getting useful lens free.

The Panny 3.5-5.6 series while good for starter to play with. The body suffers from significant shutter shock mean you need high shutter speed to compensate. Pair with these small aperture lens means a recipe for disaster with still photography.

Even with just basics photography / videography knowledge can see that this will soon turn into $200 paper weight.

I do think this is a good set for people starting / learning 4K video shooting in good lighting condition.

            • @syswong: We are talking about the 2.8 12-35mm that comes with the G9 Pro Kit - definitely no paper weight - its a great lens.

              • @Mac40: was your order fulfilled mate? one of the members here said cancelled…

                • @qzcbmo: Mine was cancelled, but I called and got it re-instated. I do a fair bit of business through Amazon and they seemed eager to please

                  • @Mac40: This does mean I lost the cashrewards though - so slightly less of a bargain

                    • @Mac40: Did they say they will source for stock for you regardless? Trying to get my cancellation reinstated too.

                  • @Mac40: Thanks mate,First time I heard Amazon can reinstate cancellation. Please let me know if you have any updates.

                    • @qzcbmo: They actually have the stock. The Pro kit is just the 12-35mm MKII and the G9 in seperate packages - both which are in stock. So I messaged them and said 'please don't cancel the order- just grab those two items and send them to me' - its the same gear at the same warehouse.

They explained that once the order was cancelled they couldn't reinstate it from their end. I'd already purchased about $800 of accessories for this too so I was annoyed - SD Cards UHS-II, cage, power adapter, batteries etc. So I said look, I'm going to be out of pocket here - if you I can't get this item at this price what do I do?

The guy on chat said to purchase the items and he would reimburse the difference when the order went through and was dispatched. So I did that and its now two days later - and the full amount of $2500 has come out of my account. No reimbursement. So I message them again this evening, hey whats going on?

They tell me that I'd spoken with a Junior support officer and that he incorrectly promised they would be able to fix that. WTF? I told them I'm now out of pocket 2500 + the accessories - some which have already arrived. They tell me there is nothing that can be done besides cancel the order. I fought with them a little, but thats it - they cancelled the new order too. Then they tell me the item has already been dispatched and now they have told the courier to return it - but they wont refund me the cancelled order until they receive the item back.

So now I'm 2500 out of pocket until the goods are returned however long that takes. Essentially they took money from me under false pretences. A pretty messed up situation over what was initially a great deal. I'm not even sure what they have done here is legal…

                      • @Mac40: I'm just finishing up with Amazon on the phone nearly 13 days later. I did end up receiving my camera and lens for $1599 thankfully. But it was one the most unpleasant shopping experiences I've had.

I think because I'm such a big customer with Amazon and the support officer had actually told me they were going to refund the order that in the end they didn't have much choice. They refunded me 979.85 price difference between the individual items and the original pro kit I'd purchased for 1599.

  • Apparently not good for videos, check it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xql4nqIU65Y

  • I don't know much about cameras, Is Panasonic Lumix Bridge $199.99 any good?

  • That link didn’t work but I searched it in Amazon and just bought it.

    • The G9 with the lens?

      • No the g7 in the post for $499

        • Sold out while I am getting my new password………..

  • All gone now 799. Damn was going to get it

  • +1

Anyone know if this has clean HDMI or a webcam function for streaming?

  • If it was a deal for GH5 then I'd bite.

    • +2

Oh no, please don't bite even for gh5.

  • Damn! Would have brought the $200 dollar one for YouTube work.

  • Ebay seller price jacking vs Amazon AU seller's midnight deal posting, Such "great and honest" business we have in 2020.

    • I seen this thread at misnight and thought the title said ONE DAY. I waited till morning to get opionions and it said expired.

  • Link goes to wrong camera, so can’t even see what I missed out on.

    • +3

Not knowing is a blessing in disguise in this situation

  • I'm using Canon m50 for my Youtube work. It has max 30mins continous video recording. Is this G7 any better in term of recording lenght? Or is there any camera that's able to record more than 30mins continously?

    • Are you recording direct to card or streaming to a PC?

      • +1

To an sdcard at the moment. I'm still waiting Elgato Cam Link price to come down so I can stream to a PC.

        • Have you tried the Windows webcam beta utility for canon cameras? Turns them into webcams. Works on most EOS cameras, though not sure about the m50.

    • The GH5 doesn't have a recording limit, but the G9 & G7 do have internal recording limits.

      • You can change that so it records longer than 30 mins, have done it on my G7 - there is a few youtube videos on it, very easy to do.

        • Do you know if there are any issues by putting your camera into permanent service mode? Are any functionalities lost?

          • @Mac40: I've just seen that the unlimited recording hack isn't available when on the V2.0 firmware or higher on the G9. Feel free to post a link if someone has had success adding unlimited recording time to the G9

  • These went like hotcakes…incredible
