I backed the original version of this back pack many moons ago.. only for it to be cloned more times than Jango Fett.

    • Yep I also backed the original ruit bag. Still a beast today! Screw these clones

  • Any verdict on these bags? Are they any good?

    • +1

Could not recommend it. Unless you do not mind the zipper breaking, or real criminals recognising the back and making it at target.

  • This one looks exactly the same. $16.50 delivered
    Ebay

    • Kogan one (from pictures) looks to be better quality. Ie. Structured and thick padding around laptop.

Also has pockets on both straps not just one.

However I don't understand the USB port placement. I'm thinking of hiking perspective where you only have a t-shirt on and that port will probably rub against and push in to ones side?

I'm not sure which one to buy…

I bought the authentic XD Design Bobby branded backpack off Culture Kings 2 years ago. Still going strong.
They have it on sale for $49.95 at the moment for those who want the guarantee of durable quality.

    • Does the usb on the inside annoy you? Have you taken it hiking?

    • Same. Got the Bobby from back in the day and the extra cost is worth it (after it seeing me through SE Asia without missing a beat)

    • I've no idea why… but I ordered this. Thanks!

  • How does the usb charger work? Do you have to provide your own powerbank?

I believe it powers off the kinetic energy of your walking but you have to maintain a brisk pace.

If it's the same as the OG one, then it's just a USB pass through (extension) from the inside pocket to the strap on the outside.

    • pocket on the inside with a usb extension cable

  • Anyone know what size laptop it can fit?

    • I only have a 14" laptop and it fits fine, i'd say it should fit a 17 without an issue.

Bought similar looking from this deal.

Not worth it as won't last long if used daily. Zipper will be first thing to know be out and seams/threads followed.

Would not recommend. Breaks easily. Also attracts real criminals who think you have something to hide when traveling.

That’s a fair ugly bag. Someone might steal it from you as an act of pure sympathetic kindness.

    • That's a unfairly personal preferece.

      • I hear ya..but is my preference any less fair than yours?

    I bought this last week.

Overall construction is adequate, I'm not a fan of the main zipper, I think it will be the most likely point of failure.

The two pockets in the shoulder strap annoys me, I will probably cut off the zip handle.

There is plastic sewn into the sides and back for slashproofing, but nothing on the bottom.

Otherwise it's just a fairly standard backpack, it does open up the whole way, so if you're doing carry on only, it makes packing/retrieving items slightly bit easier (can fit a packing cube very well), however you're probably at the mercy of how well the zip holds up.

At the end of the day, if they want your backpack then they will take it, you can only try to deter the theif by making it more difficult.

  • Any recommendations for a smart looking weekend bag? Something that looks like leather would be good. And something not too big. And doesn’t look like a purse would be a bonus.
