Timing in Buying a New Laptop

Hi everyone, I am looking to purchase a new laptop (Acer Swift 5). I am also considering Swift 3, but my main preference would be the Swift 5. Would it be better to grab one now during EOFY sales, or should I wait until Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales in hope that the price will go down even more? What are your suggestions? Thank you very much!

I'm looking to buy a mid-range laptop that is not a budget nor a high-end gaming/rendering laptop. Budget is around $1000, max $1500. My usage includes general laptop consumption (such as web browsing, email, Microsoft office) and a bit of casual gaming.

has a 10th Gen i5. You can add an extra 8GB RAM if your need it later…

    • Interesting, the other day I saw this one from Harvey Norman priced at around $1400. I wonder why it gets dropped to $1200 now.

    I'd buy now.

I'm probably wrong, but I think the Aussie dollar will fall and supply chain problems will continue to get worse.

    • Plus claim it in this Tax year… (if eligible).

      • Wouldnt be able to claim much, not many days left for pro-rata depreciation.

        • Straight line 2 year depn.

          • @serpserpserp: Still got to pro rata.

    • You are probably right, I saw $1200 price tag on Harvey Norman which I think is a good bargain. May I know many more days left do I have until the price will go back up?

  • Doesn't the instant asset write off apply.?

    • Thats only for business assets.
If writing off the value of the asset for work related use, you need to pro-rata as the value is over $300.

      • is it only limit to 1 item 300 ? or can claim multiple 300 item

          Multiple un related.
