The ultimate track helmet is now even better, with an included hydration system, MotoGP-developed metal air vents and a wind tunnel tested “biplano” spoiler that has multiple wings to maximise aerodynamic performance and add stability at high speed. The 100% carbon-fiber shell's shape is designed to minimise interference with the racing suit, while the interior has an adaptable fit and places no stitching in sensitive areas.

Features;

  • 100% Carbon fiber
  • 4 shell sizes
  • 5-density EPS developed in 4 sizes
  • Shell and EPS structure designed to minimize rotational accelerations
  • Collarbone safe profile
  • 5 front vents
  • 2 rear extractor
  • Metal air vents and extractors
  • and much more!

Only an idiot would undervalue the protection of one's head.

That being said, these are definitely track oriented, not for the average consumer.

Hence its description as "the ultimate track helmet". Complaining about this is like complaining about the cost of a $100k Porsche when you can buy a Hyundai for around $20k - it's not the same ballpark, or even the same sport :)

@ozoner: Both still get you from A to B. After about $600-800, you stop getting returns on how much you spend on a helmet, unless it has MIPPS.

            • @ATangk: That's the biggest load of horseshit I've ever read on ozbargain. And that's saying a lot.

              • @ozoner: In terms of safety, since your original statement was for protection of the head.

    • Motorsports are expensive.

Mine was a $1000. If I could spend more I would have. When you have a what amounts to a rocket between your legs, you'll want all the protection you can get.

    • spoken like an idiot with brain damage after buying a crap helmet

      • You could say the same about someone willing to pay $2k for a helmet

        • +4

if you can afford it, why not? you don't have anything else protecting your head and it'll work out cheaper than medical bills. safety gear is not something you cheap out on.

Since the upgraded version PISTA GP RR released, you can find some good deals for this model. But for this kind of money I'd go for the SHOEI X-SPIRIT 3 or ARAI RX-7V, unless you are Rossi's fan and want a replica of his helmet. No detent for visor means only fully open or fully closed position, air vents are blocked by loose rubbers that you need to put in your pocket, purely racing helmet, not practical for road use.
