Marmot Eclipse Waterproof Jacket $205.17 (RRP $365) Delivered @ Wild Earth

GETWILDER

RRP of $365. I paid $280 just a few weeks ago. Already a great deal @ $215 but if you apply the GETWILDER code you can reduce it to $205.

I did a few days worth of research and landed on this as my favourite waterproof jacket for hiking / wet Melbourne morning runs. It really is a great balance between price and features without looking too technical.

Features:
2.5 Layer waterproof jacket
Pit zips
100% taped seams
Velcro cuff adjustment
20K waterproofing and 20K breathability
drop-tail hem that can be adjusted
An eco friendly DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish that never needs reapplication.

Part of a wider EOFY sale that includes great brands like Arcteryx, Mammut, Northface and more.

FYI, there're a sale on Marmot products at Amazon, including some waterproof rain jackets. I'd rather pay at bit more for a Gore-Tex Paclite waterproof rain jacket

    • i would avoid paclite tech. Although initially it shows great performance, its never been a durable product and like most waterproof jackets, the DWR will eventually need reapplication. The EvoDry tech here is pretty unique.

Also, i think its breathability rating is 15k.

    • Is it better than those offered at Kathmandu?
      https://www.kathmandu.com.au/mens/jackets-and-vests/mens-rai…

      • Very different jackets.. that Kathmandu one looks like it's geared more for travel or urban life, no pit zips and not a technical cut with articulated arms… It also doesn't say what kind of goretex it is so yes it will keep you dry but not sure about durability and it won't have a life long dwr finish.

  • This seems like some serious waterproof stuff. I love Marmot and in Scotland (where it rains almost every day!) it was worth having but I can't justify it here. Obviously good for avid walkers who will go out even when it's raining.

    • having a good quality waterproof jacket really enables you to enjoy more winter days, particularly in southern states.

How do people keep their pants and legs dry if wearing one of these?

Get a pair of waterproof pants 👍

Arc'teryx is the No.1, you won't regret to have it.

Only problem is they cost a small fortune :(

      • Insanely expensive and I genuinely don't think the value is above and beyond some of the other big brands that charge half as much… Fjallraven on the other hand has a very unique style, completely eco friendly product line and arguably value in developing their own unique materials and philosophy

  • How does the drop-tail hem that can be adjusted work? I didn't see that in the description? Is it like a bike jacket?

  • The drop tail is very subtle on this model and I think there are lighter weight options out there for cycling so I wouldn't recommend this for that…
