MSI GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER GAMING X TRIO 8GB Gaming Graphics Video Card $1160
MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Ventus GP OC 11GB Gaming Graphics Video Card HDMI DP VR $1749
Seems to be a common thought. However i saw a video recently (maybe on WAN show) that discussed how AIB's keep relatively accurate stock numbers so they don't need to do run out sales on current gen to clear stock.
Their plans are to be able to roll from one gen to the next without much overlap so they don't have to cut prices on cards. Also plays into the idea that Nvidia don't want to undervalue their products so they can ask for more money for the 3000 series.
It was more or less the case when 20 series was released, 2080ti was more expensive comparing to 1080ti, 1080ti was gradually sold out without huge discounts, at least comparing to sales before the release.
I think I bought all my 1080ti cards on specials before 2080ti release cheaper than 1080ti were sold after 2080ti released.
only thing to keep in mind (and this is a BIG IF) is that a 3080 possibly at a 2080 super price will have 2080 Ti perfomance so i guess you can get a bit more bang for the same money if they keep the same pricing structure, and not go for another price hike. AMD has been super quiet though so not sure what the deal is there and if they have something even remotely compareable then pricing may end up lower overall … at this stage AMD needs to pull a Ryzen style rabbit out of their hat to hit Nvidia like that did with intel … that is a long shot though lol
Given the leaked info on the expensive coolers and high power consumption on the 3000 series it is unlikely they will be the same pricing. expecting a good 20%+ hike, Hope I am wrong though.
Looks like the 3080 it 30% ahead of the 2080ti
@Argon: yeh not reading too much into that… could even be the 3090 for all we know.. :)
@Argon: would be taking that with a a healthy dose of salt as they are using guess work to work out which GPU it is, could well be the 3080 ti or super. regardless though if it is the 3080 then I would be thinking my 20%+ price hike will be on the conservative side :-(
The surplus 10 series cards came about due to the crypto-craze. That's not a thing this time, though covid may have slightly upset the balance. If prices really drop over the next 4 weeks, that's your signal that retailers and suppliers have ordered too many cards, but NVIDIA will just take their excess chips and just put them into laptop binnings.
With respect to the 30 series, that would appear to be August announcement for September launch.
Laptop and desktop sales are far smaller than datacentre for Nvidia GPU.
No, the data centre is the biggest growth market for NVIDIA. Gaming still represents half of their revenue, and sits about 80-200% higher than their data centre haul. And those kinds of orders would mostly be Volta, and now Ampere (GA100).
Even Intel has a 55/45 split between PC and Server currently. Server is simply a growth area, though in Intel and AMD's cases it will definitely take over in time from a revenue perspective.
Remember that these server farms and cloud infrastructures actually need an end-user device to make use of them. AI-focused Ampere and RT-focused Ampere should see another healthy jump, but you've got your wires crossed.
You may not get that for long, but apparantly for similar price you will get next gen tech, which, as per leaks is heaps faster with almost lossless ray tracing performance and longer support.
Hot damn that's a good price. Let's see if they remove the listing again…
Check that it even fits in your PC case.
Darn nice reminder. My case is 1.5cm short.
Damn, that's a short case.
1160 - cashback is not a bad price for these, but you can pick up a 2070 super for around $350 less for (by most reviews) almost same performance
I don't think you're eligible for cashrewards/shopback when using a voucher.
Damn have to be an Ebay plus member to apply the code!
Trial membership with a new account ;)
Look out for deals where you pay $50 for a year of ebay plus and get a $50 ebay voucher in return.
Picked one up, Cheers OP. (Now the wait, then I'll pull the 1080 out and put it on eBay)
I remember buying 1080 for 700aud…
I was lucky to pick up a Gigabyte 2070S for $679 last year!
Same , I got an evga one for $680 and now it’s $999😱
Bit ridiculous what really should be a mid-range type card costs these days aye; no wonder people are flocking to console gaming :(
@basketballfreak6: Yep once upon a time that's what a top pf the range would cost…
What is going to be interesting is what 4k consoles will do to pc gaming n gpu market… If people look at pc gaming n gpu prices to get a 4k.rig they might just say screw it and buy an xbox…
no wonder people are flocking to console gaming
That's not coming at the expense of PC gaming.
I spent that much for one 3 years ago!
Bought this during Black Friday sale 2019 for $1,055.20 from FTC Computers on eBay. Love it.
You guys think this is the best price it could be at this period ?
Not a lot of deals to be had for 2080S, this version has pretty solid cooling, I have the non S version.
Just to share that I got this exact same card about a year ago at a similar price. No regrets at all! Would have been great if it is a 2080Ti but that costs more money (sorry I ran out of printer paper). Performance is exceptional and I haven't even pushed it further. Thermal performance is top notch. Never get above 60C in my well ventilated case and using Afterburner stock fan curve. This is during summer. I must say I am limiting the FPS to about 141 frames to ensure Gsync is always on. So the GPU was capped to about 80-85% most of the time. It does mean I have more 'room' for future. The fans are never loud or whiny even when spinning at 60% duty cycle. I only ever hear them during POST when the fans are spun to the max for a few seconds. Also my sample don't have any coil whine or maybe it is not noticeable.
The only down side to this card is the sheer size. Its thick! If you get this card, you are pretty much ruling out all the nice ITX cases. Its a niche so if you have not caught this bug then it will never be a problem for you. If you really want ITX and this card, then so far I've only ever seen Sliger SM580 builds. Even then it is a chore to put this card in.
Never get above 60C
Which means you aren't using the card fully.
Yeah I said that already because I was capping it at 141 frames to ensure Gsync is always on. The GPU utilisation is around 80-85% so plenty of room or futureproofing (at least for my setup and games I play). When I run Superposition repeatedly, I still don't see above 60C. But my case ventilation is good (which I said also).
For 2020, I will spend my gaming money on PS5 and xbox series X.
Irrelevant to this post but smart idea , new consoles will be more powerful than most PCs that cost double
Hopefully this doesn't get too cheap, paid 500$ for a MSI 2060 super 8gb. Good brand l.
Why does someone else's purchase price affect yours?
Who said it does, I said good price
Nice price. But i'm still waiting for a better 2060s deal…
The 2060, 2070, 2080 Supers are the sweet spot, some other geezers misunderstood my post.
I was saying this deal seemed great, and that I had the choice of a used 2060 Super (which i got), or could have spent a bit more and possibly used shopper protection later, but the cards are pretty solid either way and have to make a decision sooner or later :).
I don't need this, I don't need this..
When is ampere coming out
Likely September-October.
It may be with demand and covid, Aus gets left behind with stock supply. Could go the other way, those with cash represent fewer and Aus have more disposable income and better margins. Time will tell.
More likely this will just sell out for the first month or so, and pricing won't shift for a bit beyond early 'inflation' due to express shipping.
Anyone else getting refunded on this deal?
I was buying a Galax 2070s for $850. This persuaded me to pull that and get this MSI as it gets rave reviews and even though it's still $300 more than the 2070s, and probably not worth it, i really wanted the 2080 super.
These MSI cards get really good reviews and $1160 is a great price currently for a 2080 super.
Cant see the 3000 cards actually coming to market soon, and judging by 1000 prices, 2080 prices wont drop much anyway and 3000 prices probably increased from 2000 anyway so I just pulled the trigger.
MSI is a solid brand as well.
Don't buy mangoes in winter, wasn't 2080 o'clock 18m ago?
I would love one yet at such a thrilling phase of the GPU/CPU wars the tightarse in me's inclined to obey product cycles.
Likely Jensen's more threatened by Lisa than he lets on listening to Bob Swan whimper as she violates him.
We may be approaching an upgrade super cycle if talk of 5nm, ddr5, pcie5, usb4 & Hopper in 2021 is to be believed.
With numbers as high as 20 teraflops being tossed around the future seems bright indeed.
RIP SLI.
wut
Talk. I'm newish to the hype, but not so new as to have heard the hype vs the reality before. To date we have zero confirmed data, lots of good speculation tho…
Mate all the computer parts are a nice premium now compared to mid last year (some cases are double etc).
Is what it is.
thanks OP just bought! now i need a X570 MOBO
Nah, B450 is still the sweet spot unless you can make use of the benefits.
im using it for after effects and adobe premier pro so need some nvme ssds
For anyone interested, check the card length before buying because is is quite long. I was barely able to fit this inside a H510 case with Kraken X63.
There is only 0.5 cm of space between the Kraken radiator and the card itself
Good price but I'd wait for 3080 Ti this September.
If rumours of price increase are true, it'll probably cost $3080 :(
Item is Out of stock again unless you want the Ti.
It's out of stock op, please put that in the title.
I put it in my watch list while it was still in stock and waitted for the payment from the buyer who wanted my old 2070. He didn't respond until afternoon, after he's done paying the card is out of stock.
I had no choice but had to buy this one in stead:
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/545577
It's $33 more expensive but I'll have to swallow it.
Purchased this afternoon at around 1 pm but the seller didn't post today.
I'm waitting for his response tomorro.
If anyone is selling theirs let me know, haha. :)
Not wanting to hate on a deal, as i so want to pull the trigger on a higher end card, but manufacturing on 3000 series starts in Aug apparently…surely these will get way cheaper once they're announced?
