Yeah they aren't very organised at all, the rules were made up as they went.
Basically, picture a long line that heads towards the Apple store. The first 10 get the phone on the first day, then the next ten, etc…
You are allowed to leave the line for a max ten minutes (according to security).
Not that i'm encouraging it, but you could troll the site throughout the night and catch out people leaving for longer than this period ;)

I think there's one guy there for Friday. I'm going there tomorrow at about 3pm, if there's spots free, I'll join and probably end up getting sick, if it's all filled out, I'll take photos with my lamePhone 3G (which I had hoped to replace with a $2 SGS II), talk with the OzBargainers, offer to buy a phone off someone, and probably leave after.

Surely waiting for a few days isn't worth it? Besides, if you use your phone for work, you can also claim tax deductions on it which make the price difference even lower.

Alot of these people do look like travellers. If you were a backpacker with time to burn this could be reasonably worthwhile. Firstly you'd save four nights accomodation = $100 saved. Buy phone for $2. Sell for $500. Cheap flight somewhere sunny $125 + 15 nights backpacker hostel accomodation based on $25 p/night. Don't underestimate what travellers will do to extend the trip.
i thought it was funny at first but the stupidity never ceases to amze me, anyone past 40 - or rather 30 now.. , what happens on friday when samsung say sorry no more! I used to get a small diamond ring (RRP $700 but it was selling as $280 in the shop now) this year. Queue at 7:00 am and I was the first one there. Shop opened at 9am. Haha`~ Better than this galaxy phone~
Sorry mate - if you believe in things like big foot, unicorns or in this case the RRP, then the galaxy phone is a much better deal than your diamond ring (double your savings).

I am no commerce student but you got to take ROI into account, which will probably exceed the value of the phone even taking RRP into account.
@spawnpoint - he could have used that ring to get engaged/gain a wife … altho that could also be considered a cost not a gain … with lots of future costs to come.
