No, it is how they named the beer. The beer has some banana flavour and Mr. Wong came to Australia looking to dig up gold, but instead ended up growing bananas. Thanks to Mr. Wong and his Chinese compatriots, the banana industry in FNQ flourished, ensuring a prosperous future for many of the towns in these parts – give that man a beer that has a lingering banana aroma.
Do you have any Australian Beer?
All beer in the platform is Australian, nothing from overseas. Hemingway is calling the beer Mr.Wong, because the beer have some banana flavour and Mr.
Presumably you mean like all those true blue macro lagers that are owned by CUB and Asahi?
Haven't tried the HEF, however the Prospector Pilsner is a cracker of a beer.
And Hemingways is a great place to go for a mid-afternoon sesh and make a night of it :)
True fact. The only issue that is far north queensland and Cairns is fantastic
Had a few of these at the weekend in the brewery now that it's just opened up again. It's a nice drop, tastes a bit lighter and much easier to session than a lot of other similar beers. My only complaint would be that it's crystal clear (at least on draught). Always though Hef's were supposed to be a bit cloudy..
HI, good review. This kind of beer, HEFEWEIZEN is normally "white beer" very clear. Cheers. Lucky you who lives in summer all year around :)
Only in Queensland…Banana flavoured beer FFS.
The Hefeweizen style of beer, made for hundreds of years before this one, is characterised by having banana aromas. Traditional Hefe's have no actual banana added.
Before passing this off as the latest hipster craft beer, it's worth noting that it probably predates any of the contemporary domestic lagers most Australians think of as "real beer".
Thanks for your support. There are about 20 cases left!!! Cheers
Mr. Wong? Hemingway’s Chinese now?
