Kogan 2L Cordless Thermostatic Glass Kettle 2200W $39.99 (Was $80) + Postage @ Dick Smith / Kogan

220

I'm not sure how good this kettle is, but last time it was posted it received a lot of upvotes (although that may have been due to the hilarious description) - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/499455

Note: While this kettle is labelled as "smart" it does NOT have Google / Alexa compatibility (i.e. it's not that smart). Not the exact same product as the link above.

With a Keep Warm function, colourful illumination light and stylish glass body, this kettle will upgrade your kitchen as well as your morning cuppa.

Keep Warm function with 50°, 70°, 80° & 90°C settings
Different coloured LED lights depending on the temperature
Large 2L capacity
2200W power for rapid boiling
Premium high temperature-resistant glass body
360° rotating base with cord storage
Disc heating element
Removable water purification filter
Your morning beverage isn’t just a drink. It’s the difference between a good day and a bad, a pick-me-up that never fails even on the grimmest of mornings.

The Kogan 2L Cordless Smart Glass Kettle 2200W has a whole host of innovative features to take your morning brew from average to outstanding.

Buzz notifications and LED temperature indicators

The kettle body LEDs shine green for 50°C, blue for 70°C, purple for 80°C, yellow for 90°C and red for 100°C so you can tell at a glance when your water is ready.

The kettle will also buzz twice when turning on and when it reaches the set temperature.

Wrong product. This is not the smart one.

    • Oh dear! I misread. When the kettle is labelled "smart" I assumed smart home integration!

Bought from last deal $30, pretty good so far, just don't fill it beyond 2L, it really boils over and spills badly

      it's a 2L kettle after all.

    • thanks for the tip captain obvious!

They should really advertise this as a gaming RGB kettle.

    • or maybe trance and dance rgb kettle

  • What about an app controlled one or one that can be set to boil at the same time every morning if it has water in it?

    • They have it for $60 + Postage. Not the lowest price it's been.

I wouldn't get that one. I have that 1.7L smart kettle currently and like many users, found the lid is very hard to release - you have to hit the release button several times, or keep pressing on different parts of it. That said, Kogan kindly refunded the whole amount and didn't require me to return it, which was quite impressive. Also, the kettle itself works well - it's handy being able to heat water up to say, just 40 degrees.

The interior base has gone quite black, but I think this happens with all kettles.

Apparently you can clean it with coke.

Have had to sandpaper a little inside the kettle lip where the catch connects to get theses lids to open a little easier, same problem on 2 we bought so would be quite a common problem I would say with the 1.7lt smart kettle

        • I have one. The trick to opening the lid is to press the button on the edge towards the handle. Works pretty reliably. Not obvious though.

          • @kranix: Unfortunately not for me - I think it differs by unit. There used to be a spot that used to work reliably, but then it didn't.

The sandpaper thing is prob worth a shot, I'll try that.

I got one of these a while ago and while the lights and temp control are cool it only lasted about a year.

    • That's the intention. Last while there's a warranty

  • Glass or Stainless Steel is better?

  • I have one and they are good value for money.

  • Cordless?

    • Yes

  • The stainless steel at the bottom is held on by glue and have since fallen off. Apart from that it does what it suppose to do.

This isnt a good deal - i purchased this for $29 in December

    • However will note, this is a decent kettle for the price. The first one i had delivered was shattered in about 1000 pieces, but the second one i recieved has been going well for 6+ months now. I cant imagine it lasting too long to be honest, but at the price point cant complain - See through (kinda cool), has different temps, lights up different colors depending on temp etc

        decent kettle

cant imagine it lasting too long

        wut

        • Decent kettle for the price, as I noted. It’s a $29 kogan kettle, it’s not going to last you 10 years. Being realistic

          • +2

@TightTerry: Kmart kettle. $10. Still going 5 years later. Just saying.

          • @TightTerry: Yeah I read that but even with that qualification I still say "wut".

            It is a kettle ffs.

    • Yep agreed. Seen this go as low as $29

Seems pretty wasteful to keep water heated all day in an un-insulated vessel so it can be used a few times.

Probably a commercial case and lot more appropriate in a high use setting like a lunchroom, especially with paid employees taking coffee and tea breaks.

Beeps non stop when water is boiled, and even after returning kettle to base. Kogan support did not help out of warranty

  • Can anyone comment on how loud this is?

    • I would guess with 2200W power it's probably got pretty punchy sound

      • PMPO or RMS?

  • So this or this (minus the smarts): https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-2l-cordless-smart-glass-k… ($40) and also glass sprout.

    • That’s literally the same thing?
