Back in stock for a slightly dearer price than last time, comes with free delivery and is AU stock. I bought this processor from several deals ago and can confirm it is a great buy. However, do consider the current market as prices are still inflated.
Mine arrived after 3 days.
Enjoy!!

thankyou, I purchased yesterday for $299. I was able to cancel that order & repurchased this

  • +1

    What a fantastic cpu.

Not dx40 / q6600 / 2500k legendary ( I know I missed a lot of good chips), but I am sure this will be remembered fondly in the future

    • I'm just replaced my 2500k with this

      • Same.

      • Haha, I still got my 2500K all up and running… I won't be switching any time soon… The boost clock at 7.7GHz keeps this thing running like an absolute BEAST… In case your wondering, max temps are 68°C under full load

        • +2

So you beat the world overclocking record by 2.7Ghz and didn't go over 70C.

          Seems legit.

        • Everyone always oversimplifies this, and forgets about increases to IPC as architecture changes (up til Skylake anyways).
Your CPU at presumably 4.7GHz, is not the same as my CPU (6700k) at 4.7GHz. If I turned hyperthreading off on my CPU, I would also be at 4c4t, as equal a comparison to your CPU as possible.

According to the testing done here:
          https://www.anandtech.com/show/9483/intel-skylake-review-670…
"Sandy Bridge to Ivy Bridge: Average ~5.8% Up
Ivy Bridge to Haswell: Average ~11.2% Up
Haswell to Broadwell: Average ~3.3% Up
Broadwell to Skylake (DDR3): Average ~2.4% Up"
[Ignoring DDR4 results to concentrate solely on IPC]

Now if I changed my multiplier to match yours at 47x, my CPU would still be ~24.4% faster than yours (equivalent to about 5.8GHz on your platform).

  • +2

I ordered from the seller whose offering it for $190.

I don't necessarily need a CPU upgrade, but Amazon's guarantee seems to be pretty strong, so if it comes through, it'll be an upgrade from my i7-6700K (and I'll probably end up with money in my pocket at the end). If its a scam, I'm confident I'll get my money back.

    • +1

Hey I saw this as well and was tempted. But the seller seems to have “Just Launched” and the price is just too good to be true. Tell us if anything comes of it, if you get a tracking code or order confirmation.

      • Yeah, will do. Always like a risk free bet. lol

Worst case, someone gets a $190 loan from me for 2 weeks til I get an Amazon refund or chargeback.

        FIRST UPDATE

We thought you'd like to know that Tanbeimzx dispatched your item(s).

Your order is on the way, and can no longer be changed. If you need to return an item or manage other orders, please visit Your Orders on Amazon.com.au

Arriving: Thursday, July 2 - Tuesday, July 7

        • I ended up buying a 3700x for $250 from the same seller. Got a bit concerned when I realized the package is being shipped from China. Guess I should have figured it was too good to be true, but like you said Amazon’s return policy is solid.

        SECOND UPDATE

So I fully expected the seller to just create a shipping booking, and never ship anything. However…

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, to which country will this package go?

        • +1

Mine is origin from Guangzhou from seller Tanbeimzx. If you are using 17track.net, it will show you where it goes to.
Mine is showing China Post to Australia Post and I can see the tracking information in Australia Post website with less information.
If you login to Australia Post, it shows you that —> This delivery doesn't require a signature. It will be left, if it's safe to do so.
I guess I will need to be ready at home for the item to collect it.

          • @tony888: There are quite a few fake Ryzens in circulation right now.

            • @[Deactivated]: I saw YouTube video recently, and am reminded of that. Sellers from China, selling fake Intel chips, where they sand off the name on cpu heatshield, & carefully apply a sticker with fake name on.

              • @Pilotwings77: Yep, and they are even removing legit processor lids and welding them onto older models, fakes or dumpster dived faulty parts.

    • +2

The vendor seems to be banned in Ozbargain.

This falls into the too good to be true category and is unlikely to end well but I look forward to hearing about what happens!

I ordered a 3700x too, worst case Amazon refunds the price.

      • Mine just just been dispatched too.

        • +1

Interested to see how you get on. Good luck!

    • +1

I also got the Ryzen 7 3700x from this seller. The gamble seems to be worth it.

    • Thanks so lo …I ordered from seller and have received the order confirmation from Amazon….let's see what happens, I am not worried as like you said Amazon have a great policy if things go pear shape.
$190 too good to not try.

      • First Update.
        From Amazon…

I think we may be lucky so lo..☺️

        • +2

Don't get your hopes up. Could be a random tracking number or a random object in there. When it comes record the unboxing process, starting with the shipping label.

Edit: According to 17track.net, all they've done is create a shipping order - nothing has been collected by the courier yet. Won't happen on the weekend anyway, so let's see tomorrow.

        • Noticed that Tanbeimzx doesn't exist anymore, but a new one called Okjdbsd with the same deals does?

    • 🤔 I think we're not going to get it. The old store has gone, and there's a new store named Okjdbsd that sells exactly the same things.

      • +3

Its okay, we're only playing games like this to keep ourselves busy until Ryzen 4000 series processors come out anyhows.

                                      Hello,

We have granted your claim on order <redacted> and issued you a refund to your original payment method.

Pretty impressed with the A-to-Z guarantee. Oh well, I guess we're 2 weeks closer to Ryzen 4000 being released.

  • Is anyone else trying to build a PC with parts less than $300/each to Tax claim this year? Would you recommend?

    • +1

      why under $300 each?

      • +1

I'm doing a temporary build to hold onto until AM5 and DDR5 be a bit more affordable, $1300 build. Will put parts up when I get home tonight!

      • +2

I could be 200% wrong, but I believe items purchased under $300 can be claimed against tax. If it's over that it's a depreciating claim?

So my general idea was to purchase individual PC items below $300 (basically everything but a GPU lol) and claim them as work-related.

Edit: Also cheers John, that'd be great!

          • -2

@Nousernamehere: Cheers. I took a look (nothing mentions PC's…) and the only concern I could see is Test 3 (the asset isn't part of a set of assets you start to hold in the income year that costs more than $300.) but an example states:

"Mary, an employee, buys a range of tools for her toolkit for work – a shifting spanner, a boxed set of screwdrivers and a hammer. Each item costs $300 or less. While these tools may comprise or add to Mary's toolkit, they're not a set. It would make no difference if Mary purchased the items at the same time and from the same supplier or manufacturer. "

            • +1

@TogTogTogTog: Of course they’re going to be considered a set. You can’t use a CPU on its own now can you?

Whether items form a set is determined on a case-by-case basis. Items may be regarded as a set if they are either:

              interdependent on each other
              marketed as a set
designed and intended for use together.

              • @Nousernamehere: I was hoping to do the same haha, but I don’t think it is allowed.

On the other hand, I did get the $99 airpods deal - which they sent a $249 tax invoice for… which I will use purely for work Zoom and Teams meeting. So if all good, makes the Airpods essentially $20 haha.

              • @Nousernamehere: If I purchased a CPU to update an old PC, would I claim tax for the whole computer/set or just the CPU?

My assumption is that PC parts are the same as tools, they 'comprise or add' to my toolkit but they're not a set. For example RAM is sold as a set and is interdependent on each other but not designed for a specific mobo/cpu.

Another example would be car tyres. You can't really use them on their own, but if I needed new tyres for work I'd claim it on tax, even though you can consider wheels as part of a 'car set'.

                • @TogTogTogTog:

If I purchased a CPU to update an old PC, would I claim tax for the whole computer/set or just the CPU?

                  What do you think?

My assumption is that PC parts are the same as tools, they 'comprise or add' to my toolkit but they're not a set. For example RAM is sold as a set and is interdependent on each other but not designed for a specific mobo/cpu.

As I said, good luck if you’re audited with that thinking. Please do explain how a CPU, RAM or a motherboard are anything but a fancy paperweight without the others.

Another example would be car tyres. You can't really use them on their own, but if I needed new tyres for work I'd claim it on tax, even though you can consider wheels as part of a 'car set'.

Let me know how you go claiming tyres on a vehicle that’s your own personal vehicle. You seem to be a PAYG employee, if you had your own business (or were a sole trader) you’d not be trying to keep everything under $300 as you’d realise the instant tax write off is a lot higher than that.

Claim whatever you want, just don’t complain if the ATO starts asking questions.

I am sorry for your bad deal.

      • How is it a bad deal if the money saved goes towards GPU and they get a faster gaming computer?

        • How can you get a better gpu with an extra $52 bucks?

    • Intel, the rippoff-prices-for-over-a-decade, monopoly kings, yuk

  • Back in local stock 23/06. Combine with suncorp rewards to bring it down to $267.26 :)

This seems to be a better deal if you are looking for a motherboard too. 470 with Tomahawk Max
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/MSI-B450-TOMAHAWK-MAX-ATX-Gaming…

    • Was there a code to bring it down to $470? I'm seeing $590.

  • Available again $272.70

  • Another day, another Ryzen :)

  • amazon eating local retailers lunch because they're slowpokes at adjusting exchange rate fluctuations XD

    • if local retailer aren’t being too greedy in the first place, we won’t have this problem imo.

      • they certainly need to adapt to a changing world i don't see how many of them will continue to exist…

        • yes indeed :-( As much as I’d like to buy from local brick and mortar stores, the inflated prices aren’t very attractive + the poor online experience.

    • I was thinking about the same. I just got one email from a Aus store W/ $20 discount in a keyboard that costs $120 cheaper on Amazon (on sale).

  • Got mine today! Should OC well since it was manufactured only in May. Waiting for my b550 board coming in 2 weeks hopefully

  • Price has unfortunately returned to $299
