there will still be corporate rentals and accident replacement vehicle etc. probably kill off the small operators and leave Hertz/Avis without competition..
Bruh Hertz is already in administration and seeking a takeover to cover debts.
Ive been hiring cars off and on from Avis from the Perth airport location. Have gotten as low as $19 per day, including the 24% location fee, some other outrageous fee and the $6.50 per day chump charge. They have only one location at the 4 terminals and were only having 1 staff member dealing with customers. But apparently business is picking up. It’s the dry up north and all but the most remote communities are open. Camper relocations are now available.
Just did a mock booking for perth. 9 days for $139, not including any of their rip off add ons.

Has only been to Ace in Sydney recently?
From what I can see, Ace and Hertz (Hertz is the parent company) moved out of their locations at Mascot and they are up for rent. The website seems to infer the address has changed to the Hertz on-airport location, but all the other information (shuttle, etc.) hasn't changed…
Tried calling as well - the only thing they could tell me was to go to the Hertz counter in Terminal 2 and they would advise from there (wouldn't confirm if it was off-airport still or not…)
This is awesome. A 5 day rental cost me less than a weekend rental. And Hertz is my favourite rental company.
I'm extremely surprised that this is the first deal that we've seen on car rentals. These companies were already struggling before COVID-19 but now they're screwed. The only plus point for the rest is the potential that Hertz and Avis may be no longer.
