    Nice.

Very good chance we'll see the equivalent Ryobi wet'n'dry vac go for the same price from Bunnings

    • which would be better to grab ?

      • +2

I'd go a Ryobi just for the ease of warranty with Bunnings (yes, Aldi won't give you grief, but you might have trouble getting a replacement months down the line).

But we'll wait and see what Bunnings offer up.

I'm more interested in one just for the power take-off function, as I use my current shop vac almost exclusively with my power tools.

        • Aldi warranty is pretty good but depending on which product and/or supplier involved, I got a dead circular saw from them and it stopped working, rang the number and they only requested a copy of the receipt over email and sent replacement item next day. Didn't even question proof of breakdown or want the original sent back.

Very very unlikely. If anything they will discount a ozito, they already have a $50 one not sure if there's a more expensive spec equivalent one

One of Bunnings most recent Ozito shipments fell overboard as it was being shipped from China. That plus delays related to COVID might mean we see some brand name deals instead.

I also recall Bunnings offering a Ryobi vac during an Aldi special before too. But I could be wrong on that.

        • That's gold. Lol. GMC were better than Ozito. The only Ozito till I've used that was worth the money was their rotary hammer drill.

Seriously, though they have a monopoly on Ryobi, and hopefully, we see some better pricing, especially on skins. Last year i bought the 18+ fan for $30, down from $99.

That $50 Ozito is also much smaller (12L vs 35L) and doesn't have power take-off.

    • Unlikely as when I posted this they had already dropped the price of the 35L Ozito to $69. Seems they've taken it off the site now for some reason but it's still showing at that price in Powerpass.

Vacuum looks like a good deal. I wonder what Bunnings will match with, nothing from Ozito directly compares on their site - unless they've already taken down the product page in anticipation..

EDIT: looks like Ozito does have a comparable product, I'm guessing this is available in store at Bunnings and taken off the site until the sale is over: https://ozito.com.au/products/1200w-35l-wet-dry-vacuum-with-…

    • I'd probably compare it against this one as its available on the bunnings site. Looks like the aldi one wins hands down.

      • Your link is dead as well. Bunnings have been taking down their web pages for items matching Aldi's specials lately, so I wouldn't say something missing from Bunnings site doesn't exist in store.

Not sure what the purpose of removing the page is. I'm also pretty sure the Bunnings web team monitors Ozb for competitor deals to price match, particularly early sneak peaks of Aldi catalogues before they're uploaded on their site.

        • simple, they've got no stock and it disappears from the site

        • Ah right. Well it was a 20L wet dry vac with similar functions as thr aldi one but for $99.

Would it be a bad idea to use this sharpener on kitchen knives compared to a whetstone?

    • I suspect it would be a very low grit (200 or lower). Perfectly fine for grinding a new bevel on a damaged blade, but much too coarse for proper sharpening.

    • If your knife is $50+ and you do want to keep them for the long term, forget about this and get a whetstone. As Kapone said, this would be too coarse for sharpening and I think you would destroy your knife very quickly. Chisels and drill bits could be a different story.

I think it is a myth that you need to buy $100+ Japanese whetstones to do the job properly. Yes, they are good, but it is like driving a Ferrari on the public road. A Toyota will do the job for most of us just fine. There are plenty of cheap and cheerful stones out there. Just make sure you don't go for the dirt-cheap ones, which tend to be really coarse and bad quality.

Learning to sharpen is also easy enough these days with plenty of good tutorials on Youtube.

  • It says a lot about Aldi's crazy specials that we're six comments in and no one has mentioned the jackhammer!

It's great on intruders teeth. If u can get a long cord.

    • If you had the muscle then yes by all mean it was a great deal, otherwise a sds drill with proper bit is better for your back

      • They don't compare to a proper demo hammer for harder jobs though. I used a Makita jack hammer recently to help dig through clay for retaining wall supports, it did a great job. I don't know how the Also would compare, the Makita one is like $1k. If there was an Aldi here I'd give it a chance though, $200 is crazy.

  • I came here for reviews / comments on the jackhammer. Genuinely interested as I need to progressively remove a ton around a filled in pool….

It's a pretty generic design that you can get from many outlets like Total Tools, eBay, etc.

History has shown for me that every time offered they have leftovers that get heavily discounted, just like the air compressors.

i'm very tempted. i recently used a rotary hammer drill to smash up concrete and it was a painfully slow process.

    • Was a FullBoar branded Jackhammer last time. I was waiting for it to go sub $150, after 6 months it never did and they eventually all sold. No idea about this Ferrex brand. Doesnt look quite as good, but has 5 year warranty, so..yeah!

Also, just an FYI, I just did a bathroom reno and used the XU1 rotary hammer drill from Bunnings for $79. Did a good job of removing tiles, chasing pipes in walls, taking a few bricks out, terrazo floor, and smashed through the slab to install new drains. Much lighter than this Ferrex machine. That being said, I also recessed the slab for a double shower and used something like this to do that.

  • awesome! now i just need to concrete!

the wet & dry shop vac appears to be good value compared to bunning's lame ozito offerings

    • Not sure why but Bunnings has taken the equivalent 35L Ozito vac off their site, but have dropped price to $69

      • Probably do you can't compare the specs. I think the Aldi cac has better specs according to others comments.

        • Not sure if they are comparing to the 35L or 20L, they seem pretty similar to me.

Here's the listing if anyone is interested since they took it off the site…

  • Pink steel cap boots? I hope they have size 10. My colleagues would love it.

  • anyone know whether the circular saw blades are decent?

  • Anyone have any experience with their steel cap workboots?

I'm looking for best value for money since I'm a Canadian here on my 1 year working holiday visa. Hoping to get some work as a construction labourer.

    TIA!

  • Bunnings have price matched the worklight with the Ozito PXC unit:

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-cordless-led-workl…

Its usually $39.99, i've got this Ozito light and its great. Will be grabbing another tomorrow.

    • the aldi one has a built in battery and includes the charger. the ozito one is pricier if you are not already invested in the PXC ecosystem

  • The workstation sold out at 5 of my local stores. I went to every single one as there are no phone numbers listed. Bastards.
