First deal please be kind

While searching for a good laptop deal on OZB read in the Recent Dell G5 deal by holybuttsause that Ryzen 5 4500 were the current favourites in OZB community and that the ASUS TUF fared better as compared to the Dell G5 in thermal issues.

This is the best price I could find for a local (Aussie)stock laptop.
I would say this is better spec considering 144hz Refresh rate which the peeve in previous Dell deal and is Cheaper (now that the EPP5 code is not working.

Good deal. Also available $10 cheaper via eBay with PMON20 code for 20% off.
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Asus-TUF-A15-15-6-FHD-144Hz-Ryze…

  • the screen though, 62.5%sRGB

  • Can 1650 ti play games on 1440p?

    • Thus laptop has a 1080p screen you know..

      • Yeh Im planning to use an external monitor

        • The 1650ti is not recommended for 1440p, if you're playing newer games you will need an RTX 2060 maybe even a 2070.

          • @Vinodra: what about 1660 ti or 5600m?

            • @Homr: Not sure about the 5600M since im not familiar with AMD's GPU lineup, but the 1660ti should be fine, allthough you may have to turn down the settings to low on more demanding games such as RDR2 if you're aiming for 60fps. Still recommend for 1080p.

            • @Homr: There's a review on 5600m which perform close to a 1660 ti 80W and much better than a 1660 ti 60W https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0CNfjv2tgA. It's clear that these are best playing on 1080p (still have to turn down settings for 60+ fps). 1440p would be too stretching for lots of games and you'd have to turn down graphic all the way down to maintain playable fps. Also if you buy a laptop with 1660 ti, make sure it has 80W+ limit

  • if someone wondering if zotim is legit, answer is YES.

    Dell G5 15 SE is a much better deal at $1350. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/544516

    • 60hz vs 144hz tho

      • with 1650ti , only csgo / dota2 / lol / valorant … can do high fps

        • Not sure about anyone else but I for one enjoy the high refresh rates even for coding/excel/browsing etc.

      • You should watch Hardware Unboxed review link in comments below. This is a very bad quality panel. 100% sRGB should be standard on laptop, I wonder how many people just look at the resolution/refresh rate without knowing that the color is just unbearably bad.

        • Oh I'm not saying this is a good deal but any means (did not upvote). Simply pointing out the differences between this and the dell g5

          • +1

@frankfu1122: Well… I guess I pointed out the other major difference then :)

The Dell would have been the ultimate budget gaming laptop if it had 144hz though.

This laptop uses pretty bad panel 45% NTSC (62% sRGB). I wouldn't say it's better specced than the Dell which is around 100% sRGB. As I said in the other deal, 144hz won't do any good if color is retarded AND the GPU isn't powerful enough to pump anywhere close to 100fps on most games. The Dell also has 5600M which is on par with 2060, a significant leap from 1650ti

Design wise Hardware Unboxed had a scathing review of this laptop, panel and heating were the main issues, the Ryzen CPU was not the problem. HU review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRDUR-rPGsM

yep HW unboxed doing the hard work

this laptop is just really too compromised to even consider

  • I didn’t know there is a ti version of gtx 1650…
