This company has a terrible reputation for misleading advertising and some of the worst customer service around.

For anyone who doesn't know about megabuy yet, checkout feedback from their customers before you consider placing an order. A couple of links to get you started.

ProductReview feedback (Sudden rush of 5 star reviews recently from one post wonders makes me dubious given their history but make of that what you will)

      80 pages of Whirlpool feedback

If you're after more info on the company, check feedback for the other sites they also run.

One of the reviews state the following:

    Received faulty not Apple AirPods

I ordered two of them for my brother and sister, but received the identical replica’s and they are not Australian made, please don’t order apple AirPods, now I am taking this mater to consumer affairs

Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: New | Sold by: megabuy-technology

    • Yeah saw that too. But did he know the real ones are made in China?

      • Good point. Not sure what happened in the end. The market is plagued with fake airpods.

I'm gonna film the process of opening the parcel and verify the product when I get it. Thanks for your notice.

      • We're an Authorised Apple Reseller. All serials are registered with Apple for warranty.

        • Thanks for your reply.

I heard some scammers buy genuine products and return replicas back to sellers for refund. Then the seller reseals and sells the replica without knowing. you could have been the victim of that scam.

          • @ToTheMoon: Thanks for that. I'll escalate internally for review. Might be worth checking it out.

          • @ToTheMoon: I would assume the returns just go back to Apple? Would hate to think resellers are re-sealing used products and selling potentially used items as new? Would go against consumer law.

            • @BargainKen: Well, that may not be the exact case but what if people just reseal the package then return as unopened. It could happen tho

      • received mine today. I did film when opening the package but I have to say from my experience I was overly concerned.
the earphone box was wrapped with a thick bubble paper, enclosed in the carrierplease satchel.
it's brand new, genuine, working perfectly with my iPhone.

        five stars!

    • Anyway to check if they are real?

      • +2

These units come directly from Authorised Apple Distributors in Australia.

All units come in Master Cartons sealed from Apple.

Based on the fact we're an Authorised Apple Reseller we're not allowed to resell "fake" goods, nor would we to begin with.

Photo from out Facebook Marketplace listing of Master Cartons

Well I hope you post quickly and safely to prove naysayers wrong. Sounds like you have a bit of a PR/reputation problem…

@richmond12: A good portion from today have already shipped, you'll get a notification through eBay as soon as they ship.

We expect them all to be consigned before midday tomorrow.

        • Perhaps if you could also show a picture of the bottom of the box and edit codes if necessary? to prove that its authentic ?
pls it would rly reassure me cus i bought these as a gift

How to determine if real or fake air pods pro

    • I saw that review and I think whoever posted that is just a plain idiot. Airpods aren't "Australian made", neither is anything much these days. Some people shouldn't be allowed near a keyboard.

Assuming they're legit, They're either sold via Aussie distributor or a grey import. If you wanna know for sure, once you pair them with an iPhone, go into Settings -> About -> Airpods and they should come up with all sorts of information such as firmware version, serial number etc etc

      https://thumbor.forbes.com/thumbor/700x754/https://blogs-ima…

      • is there a way to know if it's grey import or not from serial no.? And aren't all apple products should be warranty worldwide, so even it's grey import as long as it's a legit apple product we should get warranty?

        • Think specific models sold in specific regions. I'm sure Apple can tell but they just offer global warranty anyway for 12 months. Its getting that 2nd year ACL which you need to claim via the retailer you purchased it from rather than apple (unless you shell out extra for AppleCare).

  • can officeworks beat it?

    • No, not with the coupon and also they don’t pm eBay stores.

  • Come on, Amazon, you can do it!

  • +1

Thank you! Bought myself a pair, fingers crossed they are authentic as store says…

  • I just bought these but now im scared because of the comments on here.
Is they anything i can do if they turn up as fake apple air pods?

    • I'll send a photo of the original box tomorrow, no cause for concern :)

    • +2

I don't think your picture is showing properly?

    • the link unfortunately does not show the picture of the box for me too.

      Let's try this again Image
