  • standard price at kmart $5

    • Only up to 41C. Good for the kids.
$3.99 is usual price on Amazon

For a big kid like me, I like Japanese Onsen like temperatures a few degrees higher. 41-43C is normal bath temp for me.

Digital thermometer for bath just failed. And I can't say no to a cute duck.

Can't really see the point of it when you can detect scalding water with your hand quickly.

    • Babies are super sensitive and temperature is subjective?

That's why you use your elbow.

        • Orrr a floating duck

No. $9.99 is the RRP listed on Amazon.
$3.99 is the usual price on Amazon, except for short price spike.

  • Ours and my sister in law's failed very quickly, came apart and the some of the temperature fields stopped working, therefore, even though this is cheap, it's not a bargain to me, sorry.

    That sentence seems awfully long!

But worth saying! Thanks for the feedback!

The temperature gauge part is a cheap product that can fail quickly. Or peel off.
My guess is most would be constructed the same way - so fail with use. Plus a cute duck will attract small hands & hard treatment.

I didn't order as found I had a digital thermometer available (sensor on long lead that can be popped in bath, also shows room temp) which will be much easier to read. Found cheap on Chinese sites. My previous simpler $1 one failed after years of misuse (dropped in bath too many times).

  • Serious question: how does it measure temperatures above 38°C?
Does it have a higher temperature scale on the other side? If so, should I rescind my neg, as mine didn't?

    • My question when looking at Amazon photos earlier. Guess it's on other side.

Reviews don't mention higher temp use - as it's for babies!
No reviews cover long term use - just experience after receiving product (4/5).

One review pointed out it can't be read if soap bubbles obscure scale… (just remove from bath & wipe) Was thinking of using in my bubble bath!

Ones like the $5 Kmart duck only read to 41C - more than enough for baby / child, so fits on 1 side. (Easy to return that one if fails!)

I think your warning is valid, even if for different product. I often downvote invalid Neg comments - but not yours.
