Whats the difference between Mi Band chinese vs global version?
fairly sure literally nothing
Mostly price are difference
Current info is that the Chinese only version has NFC. But the launch didn't give much info at all this afternoon from Gearbest's YouTube live show.
FYI it looks like, like the miband4 that the nfc functionality will not work outside of China
may work as a access card
Maybe, multiple articles I've read are suspicious it won't
I will still upgrade from the 4 to the 5 when prices drop
FML. Just bought a mi band 4 2 weeks ago.
Bought mine on Tuesday for $50. Delivered today :(
haha me too, paid $50 like 2 weeks ago.
Mi band 5 with NFC, wonder if it works with Google pay
No it won't.
Mi Band 5 cheaper off aliexpress around $50
link? :)
Doesn't say it's the Global version or not.
@Austrian Oak: Currently, this bracelet is only available in CN version
Global Version will be available at the end of this month
@Austrian Oak: Chinese version will be same as Global. When you setup Chinese version it will use English language (or whatever locale your phone is set to). Not worth paying the extra money for the English packaging.
@adrianhughes1998: There's usually a difference between Global and Chinese brands.
With Mi Band 4 the China version came with AliPay and some assistant you need to talk in Chinese to the watch to make it work. It has English menus and the rest of the phone is in English (i bought one)
The Global version didn't have any of those extra features.
with the Mi Band 5, i'm going to assume the China version has AliPay NFC again … where the Global version will include the UnionPay NFC version.
Having a read on the UnionPay webiste, it appears it will be accepted at different places. But yeah no guarantees at this stage.
@CereaL: If you nitpick yes it has those features. I just ignore Ali, same as whatever the Honor Band payment thing was when I bought that as well.
Well useful for some if it does shake out with the UnionPay, but don't think so mass market wise.
interested but will check reviews first to make sure google pay is working
It won't, don't bother.
This seems to be NFC version? Aliexpress link one is none NFC.
Bought one from Aliexpress anyway. Thanks.
Bummer. Just received my Band 4 a couple weeks ago.
Do these work with myki? I mean the NFC?
nope. NFC has traditionally been for chinese market only
The global version is rumoured to have NFC in the Mi Band 5, coming "later in the year".
Rumoured. Would probably cost too much to certify it to work with Google Pay and all those things.
@adrianhughes1998: The rumour was mastercard only from memory but yeah let's see.
I have a 4. Why do I need a 5?
Not much difference really considering the Unionpay NFC won't do much here.
Word of caution, 50% of thier orders wouldn't get shipped. I ordered the a drone from them a while back, didn't get it, then they "resent" it still haven't got it after a couple of months untill PayPal dispute expires…
I think this thing of us just launched a few hours ago as Youtube and New sites are just reporting on it.
25% bigger screen over the Mi Band 4
OLED screen
Stress monitoring
Automatic workout mode
Magnetic charging
Taking pictures remotely
Alexa support coming
NFC Payment (not supported outside China)
Physical button on the side now for workouts
Sp02 Sensor that measures saturation of oxygen in your blood cells (wtf lol?) which in theory can diagnose sleep apnia
Stress monitoringNFC Payment (not supported outside China)
Because they are China version.
Someone said the global will launched end of June, hopefully support Google pay
I have had Mi Band 2 for several years and found it was very good but the latest update to Mi Fit app a few days ago has rendered it useless. No longer synchs correctly. Don't know if this affects all Mi bands but there are lots of complaints about the latest app update. I've had no response from the company. Has put me off Mi band at the moment.
I have a mi band 4 and after the last update it no longer tracks any sleep. It and my old mi band 2 had been good up until then. Only reason I updated was cheap bands were rubbish and it wasn't much more expensive to upgrade than to try and buy an official band.
I've deleted the new version of the app and managed to find and install a previous version. It's fixed the problem for now. Still not happy with customer service though.
Does the global have NFC and non NFC version?
That router looks like a good deal on surface for a "wifi 6" router but…
2.4G Wi-Fi: 2X2 (supports IEEE 802.11ax protocol up to the theoretical maximum rate of 574Mbps)
5G Wi-Fi: 2X2 (Maximum support IEEE 802.11ax protocol, theoretical maximum rate up to 1 201Mbps)
The speeds would look to be as bad at peak as a AC1750 unit from say… 2015.
