  • Lol almost had me curious but I'm down the coast :)

    • What's the suburb?

      • Different town 4 hours away :)

        • Unfortunately we cannot do. Good luck.

  • What would a rough idea of the additional cost to install these on a flat tin rooftop, 3 floors up?

    • After a pre-site, I would be able to confirm if there would be any extra cost or not.

Try to ask some opinions from people on this group.

Lots of crap systems out there!

When buying cheap Solar PV system, make sure you buy a monitoring that can tell whether your system is working as designed or not.

  • Isn't the inverter a bit small for the panels' capacity?

People, I don't really know about Reliance Solar, however, I have seen tons of crap system out there. Please be very careful with cheap Solar PV systems.

Finn Peacock is someone very well known in the industry. Better listen to him before deciding whether to invest in Solar PV or not.

    • Know the site and great info there. Where I live there is a very well known local installer who recently published an article online saying the "three quote" referral websites were not to be trusted. I found it rather funny. I can only assume solarquotes doesn't work with them and sell leads to them for whatever reason, so the local installer wrote up an article saying that you are better off approaching solar companies first because the three quote websites don't have your best interests at heart and only care about making money.

      • Have you tried to visit the Reliance Solar website?

I couldn't find their CEC Accreditation number.

Also, refer to the article below about the pricing of Solar PV system per kW.

Being cheap means they're cutting corners here and there.

Try to check Crap Solar on Facebook then :)

They've been fighting hard to restore the reputation of Solar PV System in Australia after so many solar cowboys trick people by selling them cheap system that breaks in just couple of years. Sadly, many of these customers don't understand how their system supposed to work.

Haven't heard much about Reliance Solar, yet, their pricing is very similar to the cowboys.

  • Is 10.5 KW system allowed on a single phase meter, doesn't it require three phase?

    • It's only 8kW. Many networks allow 10kW per phase. You may need export limiting.

    • +2

Energex will allow 5kw per phase to be fed back into their grid which means 5kw single phase and 15kw for 3 phase.

However Energex also allow an additional 5kw per phase at zero export.

This means (for example on single phase) you can be feeding 5kw back to the grid during the day while also running things in your home such as your Hot water system or pool from the additional 5kw capacity at zero export.

This setup is ideal for single phase homeowners who have bills above $500 per quarter and have a pool or hot water system that can be offset by the additional 5kw capacity.

      • So hot water systems that are on off peak would be changed on the power board (or it doesn’t work like that?)

        • Not those on off peak unless you wish to. Majority don't have controlled load or off peak meter.

  • 32 panels may require a large area of rooftop towards North or so.
As to the inverter, Growatt is the brand I'm using. AFAIK, it's good to monitor with its app

    • Just split it up between north and west. That's how systems will generally be installed once batteries become more commonplace anyway.

  • Do you have service in far north QLD

    • Maximum 100kms radius from Brisbane CBD.
