the amazon listing in this deal is also for the 9kg updated model. if you check the Q and A, they state that they have been unable to update the listing because they don't own it.

So even if you buy the amazon one that says 7kg, theyll give you the one rated for 9kg.

  • +1

I have one of this. Make sure your monitor has a flat surface for the mount. Else you will need spacers.
I have mine mounted to a Kogan 27in monitor which has a flat back for mounting.

  • Did anyone tried the one from Aldi? Any comparison?

  • Wow i was looking for a mount yesterday XD, North Bayou vs Aldi?(on sale tomorrow)

  • Might get one of these at some point for my LG monitor, the stand is wobbly af

  • +3

I bought 2 of these a couple of weeks ago, great arms for the money.

It is worth nothing that although this this listing is showing a max capacity of around 7kg, your purchase will actually be for the the new/updated version of the F80 that is rated up to 9kg carrying capacity.

You can see in the Q and A that the seller states that Amazon makes it difficult to update listings, but all purchases are for the updated model with the higher weight rating.

    • "Hi and thanks for your question. I am assuming you meant the ASUS MG279Q Gaming Monitor? Despite the Title for the North Bayou F80 and the Product Details being out of date, and very difficult for us to get corrected because we do not own the listing, the units we are selling now are the NEW Updated model with 9kg weight capacity. The specifications for this monitor that we can find list the estimated NET weight at 7.3kg, so the NEW F80 will work.
      I hope this information helps.
      Kind regards,
      Screen Mounts Australia"

It makes this arm excellent value.

      Thanks. Updated OP with this.

    bought thanks OP
had to spend another $1.05 to get free standard delivery. bought some Frozen brand toothpaste. Double win

  • How does this compare to the Kogan single arm for $60?
    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-gas-spring-monitor-mount-…

    • Just cancelled that Kogan one (pre order) and ordering this.

Hope its decent for my 9.05kg 38 ultrawide dell

      • Just ordered this arm and planning to get the same monitor. Hopefully it will hold up

        • The U3818DW?

Note Dell AU's price has been fluctuating between 1600-1900. Best to call or go web chat and ask for their best price. I got mine for just over 1400.

Funny that you buy your arm before your monitor…

          • @sm0: How did it go with the 38 ultrawide? Holding it up well?

            • +1

@neme: Given how close that is to the rated weight (so it's not going to be immediate catastrophic failure!), it would probably take a while for any issues to develop (eg. sagging after months of use). Probably better off getting feedback after 3-6 months.

Having said that, 9.05kg is pretty negligible over the 9kg rating. I'm sure it would be covered by the margin of error, so you'll probably be fine! I wouldn't expect any issues in 3-6 months time. (People talking about sagging are using 7kg on 6.5kg rated version…that's 8% over the weight rating, compared to the 0.5% over you're talking about!) :)

              • @caprimulgus: I had similar thoughts about it. Even if it does, the arm was only $38 anyway :)

  • how about the quality? as it is too cheap for a Gas Strut Monitor Mount…

    • +1

Quality is great. Saying something is 'too cheap' is entirely subjective. it is more accurate to say that Australian pricing is extremely overinflated than to say that this is too cheap to be good.

I have seen this exact same mount sold by aussie office distributors for like $120

      • Thanks mate! will grab two for my home office… as I always shop around Officeworks… it makes me get used to the overinflated price LOL…

  • +1

These are excellent quality. We purchased 30 of the doubles from then to kit our a Small office, five years later they are still perfect.

When COVID hit I purchased a dozen of these exact models & just as good quality.

    Highly recommended

    Don’t forget cashback it’s 7% from Cashrewards

    • +1

Did anyone get cashrewards from this? I got "Declined - cashback terms not met for the purchase/promotion"

      • Same here. I've had two orders declined with cashrewards. Might test shopback instead next time, shame really.

        • +1

You'll get declined as well. What puffingmuffin and others seems to have neglected to check is that cashback applies to certain categories only and the rates vary between them. Computers is one of them that are not eligible for cashback.

          • @Clear: I purchased Anker mobile products though, they really going to categorise that as computer? There's one for mobile accessories.

EDIT: Scratch that, they've actually gone and changed it from 5.3% to 0.0%. Sketchy as.

            • @ScrubCorps: That's Amazon for you. They cut cashback on specific categories.

  • Arrrgh, wanna get this but also was really hoping for some kind of quick release mounting solution like they have in my office I can imagine this would be a major hassle if you need to move the monitor etc.

    • Lie monitor flat on desk and unscrew 4 screws.

      • Can the arm be positioned to lie the monitor flat on the desk while still attached?

        • You can take one of the arms off. I use mine with the clamp so it's much easier to take the whole mount off the desk.

          • @Clear: Yeah okay, just had a look at the installation video and looks like the top screws only need to be loosened slightly to get it out so shouldn't be too much of a hassle.

  • Can I use one of these on my desktop riser? (thing that sits on top of existing desk to make it a stand up desk) I have two monitors on it already.. was thinking of putting on on an arm on one side, and the other on a monitor riser on the other…

  • This post has alerted me to the monitor arm interest. Now I want to get the Ergotron 45-475-216 HX Desk Mount LCD Arm White.

    • If I get a 49" super-ultrawide (considering it), then I might grab one of those. Otherwise, that arm would be worth more than my three monitors combined! lol :)

      (Yeah, I have crappy monitors!)

    • This is nice, is it for apple?

  • Anyone with one of these- how vertical can it go?
My screen needs to be in a corner as close to the wall as possible.
So hoping it doesn’t need to come forward too much from the mount on the desk

  • Is it possible to claim a tax deduction on this for working from home?

    • +1

      Yes, I'm doing exactly that.

  • Thanks! Got it for my lg-34gk950f :)

  • Cheers, ordered 2!

More expensive than previous deals, but upgraded weight rating, so I guess that's fair!

  • Use these and they're great.

Can anyone recommend a really tall vertical one (1m or so ,maybe more)?

  • Anyone know of a mount suitable for a monitor without a flat back, as it sounds like this one won't work

    • If your monitor have VESA mount should be OK.

  • Would it fit a 32" AOC Q3279VWFD8? The monitor is rated 7.5kg with the stand.

Description of the item says it's rated up to 6.5kg….

    • Seller is selling the updated version, rated up to 9kg, so should be fine! (see Q&As)

      • Cheers mate. Miss that part.

  • U guys reckon will work for my 32 inch LG monitor?

  • +2

    Price for me shows $44?

    • Yep same here, damn.

  • Thanks OP, bought one just before it went back to $44.20
Now I only need a monitor and a desk to go with it…

  • Seems like its $10 shipped here? 4 left.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-F80-2-to-9kg-Full-Motion-Gas…

    Am i missing something?

    • Seller with 258 feedback?

      • Is that not good? Good enough for me at $10 :D

        • Too good to be true?

          Buy and report back

          • @SnoozeAndLose: Sold quite a few today. One guy bought 3 of them after me. Wonder if someone from here…

            • @sm0: "You were recently involved in a transaction for the following item:
              174303800771 - NEW F80— 2 to 9kg Full Motion Gas-strut Desktop Mount Bracket /Monitor Stand

We’re writing to let you know that an unauthorized third party may have accessed the seller’s account to list this item. The item has been removed from the site, and the transaction was cancelled."

              So there's your answer!!!

              • @firefly2k3: Got the same message. How do we get our tenner back? :)

My amazon one has shipped out too.

              • @firefly2k3: Too good to be true

  • Mine just shipped out. Sydney.

    • Just got mine. Bloody thing is heavy and seems solid.

  • Arrived. Time to install

    • Update looks great, my setup is so clean now.

      • Yup indeed. It looks great with so much desk space.

Side note, it took me so long to install, maybe an hour and a bit. My table is a folding table without anything proper to clamp on so I had to saw a wooden plank to stablise it. Eww.

      • Can you share your set up?

  • Can anyone confirm they received the new version with the updated 9kg rating?

    • +1

      Can confirm

    • +1

Can confirm, the one I bought from 3/5 already come with the new version

  • +1

    Can also confirm.
Seems solid, hope it stays this way
    38UW, 9.05kg so touch n go
Have to trust these guys I guess.
Not sure I will keep or not.
