Doom/Doom II/Fallout Shelter/The Elder Scrolls/Fishdom/Lineage 2 & Others - Free on Chromebooks - Limited Time @Chromebook Perks

210

Chromebook ownership has its perks, which includes offers on a rotating selection of apps and games. Now, Doom and Doom II are available for free on Chromebooks for a limited time. The offer isn’t available to every Chromebook user, so check the perks page to see if you qualify (via Android Police).

The Doom games are the classic ‘90s versions released by Bethesda (not the 2016 reboot), and they’re usually $4.99 each. It’s unclear how long they’ll be available for free, so you’ll probably want to act quickly. Other games currently available for free on Chromebook include The Elder Scrolls: Legends and Fallout Shelter, both of which are usually $19.99.

It's only coming up with (ineligible) 100gb drive and 30 day Calm sub for me. Has it been removed?

        • Same.

          • @norkle: same.

            • @CVonC: did you scroll down a little more??

              • @bonky: scrolled all the way baby

EDIT: if I go to the perks page in an incognito window i can see the perks.

EDIT2: and now the perks are appearing in my PC's browser, it's my chromebook chrome session it doesn't seem to like.

                • @norkle: I’ll try again tonight. This morning only had the 100gb offer which didn’t work.

              • @bonky: all the way down.

                • @CVonC: works for me! - maybe clear ya cache?

                  • @bonky: lol i've never visited that site before.

and doesn't appear in an incognito window.

Seems like a great idea, give a murder simulator for free on a device that is mostly used in schools by kids ages 5-16.
(yes, there is some sarcasm in this comment, but also some truth!)

  • I see Google Drive, Stardew, Calm and Lineage 2. Have already redeemed Drive and the others say I'm not eligible because I'm not in the US even though it does give me a promo code ( and have from day 1) :(

    • Ditto.

Except Stardew and Lineage aren't there for me.

I got the Google One for a year deal, but hit cancel in the end since I'd never use it and don't wanna throw my card on there.

  • So only for new purchases, not for existing owners?

Before anyone else wastes a few minutes, I downloaded CloudReady to a USB stick and booted off it into ChromeOS on my laptop.

In Win10, it lists all the perks available.

In ChromeOS, the perks page only lists the 100GB Google One free 1 year sub, but even this is not eligible.

    • thanks! saved me a bunch of time. Apparently google can easily tell the difference between Chrome OS and Chromium OS (the free opensouce edited version).

Can't see on Windows 10 machine in Chrome but can under Firefox.
Can see all perks with Android Firefox on Chromebook
Can see all perks with Linux Firefox but then says "Not so fast, this perk is only for Chromebooks." in all cases :(

    Grrrrr…

Went to report and here's the conditions:

    Redeem a Chromebook offer
Make sure all of the following applies to you:

Your Chromebook is brand new. Used, refurbished, open-box, and pre-owned Chromebooks aren’t eligible for offers.
You’ve never redeemed the offer before. You can redeem each offer once per Chromebook, or once per Google Account, depending on the offer.
You are redeeming your offers within 180 days after the first account was added to your Chromebook. If you don’t claim the offers within this time limit, they expire.

HAve sent query and will report back :)

    • Keep us updated! I got my Chromebook in early January this year so <180 days, but I also can't see anything other than the Google One offer which is not valid for my device apparently.

      • As mentioned the offers are different depending on the chromebook. Only on your chromebook do you see the available offers.

        I have asked Google before.

  • Couldn't make it work an a brand new asus chromebit (it prompted me to unbox) don't see the additional options in chrome and those I can see say I'm ineligible. I wonder if there's some kind of workaround.. like vpn or editing some device identifiers or something.

    • I think it may be to do with no current android app compatibility.

      • No andoid app compatibility is one of the differences between Chrome OS and Chromium OS (the free opensouce edited version).

  • I have the HP Chromebook X2 and those offers are not available. Only the Google cloud bonus for a year.

  • I appear to have a problem with redeeming anything, have placed a google support case, will see what happens.

What is weird is that when I'm NOT on a chromebook, I see the Doom offers etc, but from my Chromebook I don't.

    • Correct as Chrome on your Chromebook knows what Chromebook you are using.

      • o rly? how?

  • Still can't access anything on my C340-11 Chromebook. As others have mentione I can see it on non Chromebook PCs but can't activate/redeem anything. How odd.

    • Looks like I am not eligible for anything :(

Thank you for your interest in Google One from our free trial programme.
You are eligible for this offer if:
You haven't claimed a free trial/promotional Google One membership.
You don't have an active Google One paid membership on or after 1 May 2019.
You won't be eligible for this offer if any of the following apply:
You are a G Suite user
You have a paid Drive subscription plan
You currently have a paid Google One membership
You can't cancel your membership to sign up for this promotion.
I am very sorry to inform you that your current Google account is not eligible to redeem the offer. However, you can still redeem it using any other Google account that has'nt have a free trial or a paid Google One membership yet.

      • It all comes down to what you see ON your Chromebook in Chrome. Everything else is irrelevant.
