          Okay, so I am drunk

          lol

      • $2.5 difference beween the 500gb MX500 and the 480gb BX500

  • I bought the 960GB as a boot drive… it was a mistake. I wasn't expecting blazing fast speeds, but it was so slow I ended up going back to my old 240GB SanDisk Ultra Plus.

It's fine for a (relatively) games drive, but do yourself a favour and get the MX500 instead.

    • I was about to post a Nah and saw yours. Put a few more buck in to a MX500 will really get a boost.
BX500's write speed drops to around 60MB/s after the SLC cache is saturated which is terrible as 10 years old 2.5" HDD can do better than that.

  • I bought 3 of the BX500 240GB drives for my new home server build, and the things get mighty hot under load. The smart stats on the cache drives says they've been up to 73C. Maybe the higher layer count makes them run hotter, I don't know, but a lot of cases aren't designed with SSD airflow in mind.

I'm expecting them to not last as long due to a) heat, and b) DRAMless design. If they still last a few years, then fine who cares; they were cheap.

  • Beating myself over the missed amazon deal on MX500 from yesterday
