Recommendations: 4k wired home security system

Hi all,
I am looking at purchasing a wired 4k home security system. I currently have the Arlo system however, we are doing a Reno/extension and I am after something a little more reliable and that continually records and is wired in.
I was looking at the Reolink 4k system, but open to all proven options.
Quality is a big thing, 4-8 cameras (depending on price). Looking at spending < $1000 (I will install myself)

Look forward to people recommendations
Thanks

    4k cameras under a grand?

And you want at least 4??

    • That's 16K of robber catching goodness. For under 1K :)

OP, you'll have to factor in a PoE switch into your budget if you don't have one already, too.

    • Yep. The reolink 8ch with 4 cameras I think is currently under $900. Can purchase more cameras and Addon if need be.

      • $800 on ebay.

  • why do you want 4K?

    • From a picture point of view, also details when zooming.
I want something that is pretty future proof for at least the next 5yrs.

They’re not great night time cameras assuming you’re looking at the B800/D800

You are also tied into their NVR (well kinda we have an app that can proxy the .4k feed now)

There’s no motion tracking in the PTZ cameras
There’s no ONVIF or RTSP built in.

    The motion detection is balls

Great day time cameras though, move fast enough at night and all you get is blurred faces and number plates.

If you want it to last 5 years, double the budget, and looks at some higher end cameras and a beefy NVR

The 4k cameras don’t have optical zoom, only software. You might be better looking at the 5MP PTZ/dome cameras.

I’m contemplating swapping them out / relegating them to other areas.
The software is very average and most of the config has to be done physically on the NVR itself

  • Bump..
Still looking for some recommendations for home security camera kits if anyone has any options they can recommend?

  • Hey OP, what system did you end up buying?

    • Hey,
Ended up going with Reolink 4K 8ch. Cannot fault it. Would easily buy again.

      • Thanks. How is the quality at night?
