Almost $300 more for the Combo. What do I get with the Combo? 2 more batts, 1 case, 1 charger, 1 prop guards, that’s it? Is it worth the Combo?

    • Battery Yes, Extra Propellers Yes.

    • Good price, maybe worth getting extra battery separately. Does have great battery life even on 1. Wonder if anywhere will price beat, seems OW has no stock but you can order.

Does mention in ad that comes with prop guards under features but comparison later does not, may be a chance to complain and get some for free.

I was going to update from spark because range and few other features but after looking at comparisons decided to go for original mavic air fm but cost closer to 1k.

the "real" price for the combo is around $679 these days so only $170 more so depending on what you need it may be worth it. But if you have to pay RRP at $799 forget it.

    • 3 batteries and two way charger extra propellers etc.

FYI you need a recent phone to be able to install the required DJI Fly app. https://www.dji.com/au/downloads/djiapp/dji-fly
Just received my Mini from the recent Johnny Appleseed deal and the app cant run on my 2yo Moto G5Splus. Now looking at a new phone ugh!

    • Install the custom Android ROM based on AOSP, should allow you to run the app. The issue is less DJI and more that most companies aren't updating their Android phones.

What risk? It's not like it invalidates your warranty or will cause your drone to explode…

"Note: If you decide to use a mobile device that DJI does not support, that just means DJI won't assist you if you contact them for help. It does not necessarily mean the mobile device will not be able to run DJI GO/Fly."

          • @TogTogTogTog: What if you lose the drone and it's a line ball decision as to who is at fault and the unsupported phone tips the decision against you and lose your $600 investment.

Especially if you can avoid the risk by investing in a $100 phone.

            • +1

@poxy001: you think warranty is going to cover because you lost the drone? So many factors they'd have outs to be able to not payout. Wind, should only be operating it by line of sight, local interference which isn't their fault.

I dont think i've heard of anyone being covered for a lost/crashed drone unless they've been able to prove the battery just cut out mid-flight.

The issue is actually that Moto installed a 32bit OS on a 64bit device. The DJI Fly app requires a 64bit OS, therefore your Moto G5 can certainly be used for the Mavic Mini and DJI Fly app, you just need to install/flash a 64bit OS ROM just like I did with my Moto G5 Plus. I installed Pixel Experience which gave me Android 10 64bit, and the DJI Fly app works flawlessly. Your phone is more than capable, it's the 32bit original OS that's the problem. Easily fixed.

    Amazon price-matching DigiDirect https://www.digidirect.com.au/dji-mavic-mini

    • +3

Good point, definitely worth get fm from digidirect https://www.digidirect.com.au/drones/drones/dji-mavic-mini-f… at 15% off, $679.15. Seems to be free delivery when I added to cart.

      • Where’s the 15% off?

Edit: never mind I think my page just loaded funny. I see right price now.

      • Check if they have stock. Been waiting 5 weeks from them without news!

        • Officeworks price beat for further 5% off, it will be great for combo deal.

          • @maxall: yeah worth a try but OW don't have stock so may not match.

            • +2

@Captain Hindsight: I price matched digidirect and got Flymore for 640 2 days ago ordered through phone since no stock in store and they said they don’t match amazon.

              • @Okayy: but does OW actually have any stock. have not showed any stock available for a while. Did they tell you ETA?

                • @m2000: It was OOS that’s why i ordered over phone.

    • +1

My last order through digiDirect? took almost 6months to arrive. Will think twice about using them in the future.

  • Anyone know any good deals on the Mavic Pro Platinum?

Does it matter in Australia if it’s not 250 and less than 250g?

    • same question, look like useless toy in Australia.

      • -2

In Australia less than 2kg drones doesn’t requires any registration but in USA it’s 250g.

      • +2

Definitely not a useless toy. Can fly 50kmph, takes great photos and videos, all in a form factor of 249 grams. An incredible feet of engineering. And as per my comment below, registration will be required in Australia for drones over 250 grams in the future.

        • Yeah, the limit made me think twice about buying one of these instead of a mavic air but every chance they could lower weight limit on a whim.

        • What's the most wind speed these would be able to take at such a low weight?

    • It will. Just doesn’t currently: “In the future, new rules mean you'll need to register your drone before you fly. Drones and model aircraft that weigh more than 250 g will need to be registered.”

      Source: https://www.casa.gov.au/knowyourdrone/registration-and-accre…

Not that registration will be the end of the world. But does require a passport or drivers licence, a fee, and that you take a short quiz.

My problem is still, I always get stared at even though I'm not over populous area. The mentality of the people around a drone is just sad. Where do you fly? Where can I fly?

        • +1

          yes this
No ware to fly in the cities. You have to drive out to the bush to legally fly. Expensive hobby :(

          • +1

@ripprind: Even national parks ban drones. Kangaroo Island would be a great spot but talking to the ranger there, they don't want them flown.

            • @lomie: Yeah, between people staring and very few places to fly legally, I take my drone to a lot of places only to never take it out of my bag…

  • I do not anything about drones but how is this compare to the $2000 version?

    • +1

It's priced accordingly. Plenty of reviews on YouTube you can watch.

    • A great entry level drone with very usable footage. It's portability and ease of use is really impressive, I have the fly more pack and would probably keep it even when I eventually upgrade.

  • I have a tough time deciding, can anyone help? I got Amazon vouchers due to late deliveries and I can get the drone down to $434.93. I am not sure if I should just go with this or wait for the combo to be on sale? It seems like I get much more value when the combo goes on sale.

    • Where do you live? is it even allowed to fly over there?

      • +1

I live in South Australia. Yes, I can fly here.

  • Price matched at JB-Hi-FI from the digi direct deal as they dont price match amazon.

  • $479 Delivered via this new Amazon deal for any subscribers to this deal still looking.
