Any experience buying from ProdStop AU?

I was looking for an AV receiver and the website prodstopau.com came up with Yamaha receivers at really decent prices compared to other Aus retailers (almost 40% cheaper). Wondering if anyone bought stuff from them before and are they trustworthy ?

A Google search didn't come up with alot of results.

      Domain registered two months ago
      …everyone needs to start somewhere.

'Parent' domain registered two weeks prior to that.
      …shows multinational conglomerate ambition.

Company LLC not appearing on business register
…fake it till you make it. Apple started out from a garage and look at it now!

"As an Amazon Associate I earn commissions from qualifying purchases."

"Customer Service: (631) 240-3852 - PHONE SUPPORT IS CURRENTLY SUSPENDED DUE TO SHUTDOWNS. ProdStop support is located in New York."
…we really need to support small businesses affected by coronavirus.

And if it wasn't legit, even scammers need to eat.

I don't know what you Googled but I don't think you did it right, because this is what I got after one Google search.

  • Merged from Scam Alert: Prodstop AU Credit Card Skimming

    Website: https://prodstopau.com/

I have been searching online for the best price on a few electronic goods - laptop, nintendo switch etc.

Noticed Google Shopping returned "bargain" price on item I was looking for.

Long story short. The site is a scam and skims credit card detail.

The site look quite legit that I almost fell for it. But the price was too good to be true - $0 for a switch and they charge $70 for delivery? Gotta be kidding.

Anyway, sharing to alert ozb hunters.

Nothing about that site looks legit. From the name to the standard shopify template to the lack of ABN number to the lack of customer service pages to the 'blog' to the Amazon referral links to contact us page to shipping rate to refund policy etc………

I wonder how many people read the first comment and then ended up putting their credit card details in. We need mandatory sarcasm tag here.

Sorry pegaxs, googleyahoo69 has just purchased 2 of each.

I'll have some more drop shipped next week if you can wait.

That'll teach ya to buy only from those mentioned in Ozb.

I saw them too popping up in Google Shopping and always showing the least price compared to all others but I've never heard of it mentioned in OzB (or rare enough) so didn't bother.

i would have thought the 'au' in the name would have been a dead giveaway

      • +1

Yeah; most legitimate stores either have an .au domain or an .com/au or .com/en-au website

    • The site is a scam and skims credit card detail.

I'm not familiar with Shopify but I suspect sellers on Shopify platform cannot see your credit card numbers. Only the last 4 digits.

Perhaps even if you go through, the site will cancel your order and refund your purchase.

In that case the purpose of the site is not steal money from you, it's to build mailing list of gullible idiots which I think can be quite valuable on its own.

    • Prodstop at www.prodstop.com is an untrustworthy store, which claims to sell Nintendo Switches, furniture, vacuums, luggage, bags, jewelry, toys, and other products. Online users are advised to stay away from the untrustworthy website because those who shop from it run the risk of receiving counterfeit goods or nothing at all. Unsatisfied online users who have shopped on the untrustworthy website are asked to contact their bank or financial institution to have their transactions canceled and money refunded. - Source

Google their contact number. Probably more domains than: prodstop.com, prodstopau.com, prodstopca.com.
