    Before you spend money maybe check the NSW Government site on mobile food vehicles.

    I would be waiting for an established food truck business to fail and buy one used.

      And lots do fail. I work in an industrial area,I have seen heaps come and go. It's a very competitive industry you are wanting to enter.

    Alibaba has various caravans available. I've seen one here (dude imported 2, 1 to use and 1 as a spare) and it was quite good for the few thousand dollars it cost. (Plus import fees)

    • thanks ! I will have a look

    gumtree/facebook etc

  • Lot’s of amateur operators have spent $60k on food trucks. Look on gumtree and pick them up for around half that when they fail.
    Might have to be prepared to do a bit of looking, but savings thousands is worth taking a bit of time.

    • thanks for the advice

  • I looked at doing this about 5 years ago when the trend was getting traction, then i looked into the council regulations and they make it extremely hard to make money where i live;

    "The operation must not be located within a five kilometre radius of a retail shop, other commercial premises, or another stationary vending operation, that sells or provides similar products or services."

      the law is changing at present :

      The government has also moved to allow the “unrestricted operation” of so-called “dark kitchens” - which cook meals solely for delivery rather than eat-in diners.
      Takeaway food trucks will also be able to operate on any land in the state, provided they have consent from land owners.

        • In QLD food trucks can already operate on any land in the state, that's how food trucks tried to get around the 5km radius rule, i think the rule you're referring to does not include council land, only private.

          Also the link you provided has this rule which is going to make things hard;

          "Vending is only permitted from any one location for a maximum of 15 minutes over 24 hours"

          IMO food truck is a passion project and you need a stable income as well.

  • There was one on Facebook marketplace for $30k
