Cheapest NBN Plan for Pensioner/Senior

I am looking for the cheapest NBN Plan for my father (Pensioner/Senior)
He just received notification that NBN (FTTN) has been activated at his house
Current connection is ADSL2+ (7Mbps sync speeds) with Telstra @ $70 (Rip Off!!)
Maximum monthly data consumption is 100GB

Any recommendations or deals?

    • You cant recommend NBN12 to anyone these days when one can get NBN25 for the same money!

Flip is just really bad news.
They have no idea what they are talking about.
      Customer service is dreadful.
And thier basic offer is NBN12
      Just forget about Flip

The Spintel 25/5 recommendation is the one I have recommended to several people and for myself as well when its only 1 or 2 people using internet and data requirement is not high.
For OP's father keeping the phone line is probably important and thats included with unlimited calls to Australian landlines for the $49.95
Spintel service is also very good compared with most.
I know as I have been with Spintel since 2012

So Spintel is hands down winner for older people and pensioners looking to keep the landline and pay the minimum cost for moving over to NBN whilst having a reasonable data allowance and good speeds.

And even better news, Spintel offers a no lock-in month to month option or a 6 month contract with $69 cashback which pays for the new modem/router. Either way much better than locking into a 12 or 24 month contract and then have regrets.

I'm with FlipTV and have no issues.

      • Hi Amazyingone,
Thinking of signing up with Spintel. Would you be able to provide a referral to access the Spintel referral discount ? Pls let me know asap.
        Cheers

Did you not read what OP said?
Looking for 100GB data as a maximum so 50GB doesnt cut it.
And how could you recemmnend an NBN12 plan to anyone?
      Thats slower than ADSL2+
      OMG!

How much is your phone plan? If 100gb is enough, maybe a 100GB phone plan could work out better for you then hotspot it to your PC or laptop. https://www.whistleout.com.au/MobilePhones/Search?calls=-1&s…

      This.

We run Circles of life - $38 for 100gb on 4G. We get up to 40mbs where we are.

Plenty of other threads discussing setup .

      • gets rather complicated for an old person to organise local hotspot and then somehow pick that up on PC.
Some of these mobile plans dont even allow hotspotting

Better a Home wireless broadband plan

        • I’m looking at a similar proposition for my FiL who’s currently got Telstra cable and happy with it. 200gb? Any replacement will be slower and either cost more or have less download. Certainly considering circles and a 4g modem - but will hold off until his current configuration is retracted later this year

  • there used to be an aussiebb pensions plans with data limit for 40/45 not sure if they still exist
fliptv pension plan is 43, +3 if you want home phone

  • After comparing the options I think the Belong Starter NBN (30Mbps) with Unlimited data @ $55/month is the best option and best bang for buck.
Other forums are saying the 30Mbps connections operates at 50Mbps as its just an artificial throttle, not to any NBN standard anyway.

  • Is the recommended Spintel service still worth considering?
