[PC] Steam - Halo 2: Anniversary - $11.45 AUD - Steam

76

This is the all time cheapest price for this game.

Clarification (thanks to sinewaves7):

If you buy the MCC you're set, you get each game as they're ready.
Buying the game individually gets you that game. You can then run the MCC program but you'll only have the game you've bought.

It's a great setup as far as giving the consumer options with what to buy and how much to spend, but the way it's implemented in Steam is a mess.

From the website:

Halo 2: Anniversary comes to PC as the next installment in Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Now optimized for PC, experience the impeccably remastered edition of the original Halo 2 game. Following the destruction of Halo, humankind experiences a short-lived victory. Eager for revenge, the Covenant launches a surprise attack on Earth, but they find themselves ill-prepared to defeat the UNSC’s home fleet and are forced to flee into slipspace. When the Master Chief pursues his overzealous enemies, they discover yet another Halo ring, uncovering long-buried secrets, including an unlikely ally, that will dramatically alter the course of the Human-Covenant Conflict forever.

Game Features

  • PC Settings/Optimizations: Halo 2: Anniversary is now optimized for PC and looking better than ever at up to 4k UHD and at 60+ FPS.* Other PC native settings include customizable mouse and keyboard support, ultrawide support, FOV customization, and more.
  • Campaign: Experience the next chapter in the Halo saga and fight your way through 15 unforgettable missions. Play as both Spartan-117, the Master Chief, and for the first time, the Covenant Elite, known as the Arbiter, and experience the Human-Covenant Conflict in a whole new way.
  • Anniversary Edition/Update: Toggle between the remastered graphics in the Anniversary edition and the graphics from the original Halo 2 campaign. In the Anniversary edition, view Blur Studio’s spectacularly remastered cutscenes from the original Halo 2 game.
  • Multiplayer: Continue your Halo adventure with 7 remastered multiplayer maps from Halo 2: Anniversary and 25 multiplayer maps from the original Halo 2, featuring a completely updated progression system.

Enjoy!

I thought Halo 2 anniversary was already available as part of the MCC?

    • On consoles, the pc releases are still coming. So far they have done Reach, 1 and 2.

      • +1

It's out on PC :) Played it yesterday morning

    • -1

It probably is: the blurb is from the Steam page and I doubt they update it after initial launch.

  • +2

So I'm apparently a bit confused about this. I was under the impression that this was a part of the MCC. If I pay $50 for MCC what do I actually get? I was going to buy that now that Halo 2 is here.

I thought the $11.xx was to buy Halo 2 separately.

    • +3

You can either buy them separately or you can get the MCC which will eventually have them all.

      • +1

I think the description from this post is confusing people.

"At this time you cannot buy Halo 2: anniversary as a stand-alone game/without the Master Chief Collection."

The MCC includes Halo 2 so not sure why you would buy it as stand-alone if you already own it.

        • Yes also the title confuses a bit. It actually doesn't require the MCC then.

          • -1

@[Deactivated]: I added the clarification provided by sinewaves7.

So if you only buy Halo 2 then the MCC program will run with it (a launcher in a way, just like the Sega arcade games) and you only have Halo 2.

If you buy the MCC on Steam, you will have access to all 7 items in there as they are or become available.

        • It must be referring to the actual launcher because I think each game is technically considered DLC.

    • +1

That's how I understand it, I think you can buy the games individually or as a pack. I bought the MCC before christmas for $50 and so far Reach, 1 and now 2 have unlocked at no extra cost.

    • +1

The blurb is incorrect. Halo CE and Reach that were released previously don't need the full MCC.

  • +1

There has been confusion on the MCC since the start because of the way the store lists the games as DLC.

If you buy the MCC you're set, you get each game as they're ready.
Buying the game individually gets you that game. You can then run the MCC program but you'll only have the game you've bought.

The description is incorrect in saying you have to buy the MCC and then the game.

It's a great setup as far as giving the consumer options with what to buy and how much to spend, but the way it's implemented in Steam is a mess.

    • Thank you for that.
I added your explanation in the description to clarify.

  • If you buy the MCC bundle, you get all the games that are currently released; Reach, 1, 2, and when the other games get released, you'll be able to download them as they arrive

This is the normal price… no deal.

    • +4

I agree. Standard price for this game on Steam.

This feels like an announcement of Halo 2 Anniversary being released for PC and not a deal for the game.

    • +8

All time cheapest price for this game

Posting RRP for something that just came out and calling it the cheapest price is cheating.

    • -5

ITAD shows it as the all time lowest price.
Plus in my opinion your definition of a deal is flawed. If Porsche offered a special edition 911 for $10000 from the outset would you say that is not a good deal just because Porsche has not applied a 50% discount?
Conversely the most upvoted deal on this site, the Tesla deal, is not a great deal for me despite the hefty discount as I think the car at that price is still overpriced.
But of course, if a deal for you means discounts and nothing else, that is your prerogative.

      • +5

Current Best Steam on 2020-05-13 0% off A$11.45.

The Tesla deal was a meme if that wasn't obvious to you. Let's just post all new release games as deals then.

        • -4

You totally missed the point about what a deal is and can be. It is not just discounts.
If Steam put it at $30 RRP but then perpetually puts it on sale for $11.45 then apparently it would be a deal for you even though you get exactly the same things for the same price.
But fine, if that is how black and white you think of a bargain, that is up to you.
Wouldn't it be a hoot if they increased the price in a week or so? ;-)
          Have a great day.

          • +4

@Lysander: It's ALWAYS being sold for $11.45, just like the other DLC's. It won't increase price.

      • I was ready to disagree with Lysander based on how this argument was going, but I mean, he makes a valid point.

  • -4

Halo 1 and 2 are so boring and repetitive couldn't stand playing the series after playing halo 2 with more hours of repeating similar scenes, enemies and pew pew, dòoooooo noise.

    • +4

Do you actually like shooters? Because Halo 2 is a great.

  • +3

This is just regular RRP, sorry

  • As others have stated, this is the regular price and not a deal.

  • Yep no deal. I could buy this yesterday, today, tomorrow or in 6 months time for this price. Reach and Halo 1 are also this price so will you be posting deals for them as well?
