TCL 32-inch S615 HD (768p) LED LCD Smart TV $395 @ Harvey Norman

14

Was looking at a 32" decent SMART TV for guest bedroom. Found this one with latest specs Bluetooth, Voice remote and Amazon Prime Video Support.

Running low on stock everywhere else. Harvey Norman has got a few left.

Just found the same TV on Videopro for $335.

Bigger TV's posted for less and 4k. An android box is a better addition.

    • +3

For some, the size isn’t the most important thing.

      • -4

This price is hardly special, 32" HD JVC at Big W for $199 cheaper if you know someone with a discount card and a top teir android box for the $100 and $100 in the pocket.

    • this is for a bedroom where >32" tv won't fit. It's for the TV bracket between 2 cupboards. So, this seems like the best available option for 32" Smart TV with Bluetooth and Amazon Prime, I need both of these along with standard Netflix and Youtube.

      • +2

So it seems that this is only a deal if you need a 32" TV to fit between 2 cupboards. Quite niche to be honest.

      • Have you tried gumtree? Or the verge collection? (+ vodafone tv)

        • I did. All old TVs. Preferred new tech with warranty.

    • android box and tv were different items last time I looked.

    1366 x 768 = Shudders

    • +1

It's actually hard to find a cheap 32 inch TV that has a better resolution than HD without a big jump in price.

    • +1

That is an OK resolution for a 32" tv.

  • -1

Err. ALDI is selling a 4k 50inch Philips for roughly the same price next week.

    • +1

      But this has Bluetooth /s

      • Does /s stand for Bob Saget and Dave Coulier saying 'not' in Full House?

        • Obviously it does!

    • +2

scrimshaw, I understand what you meant, but sometimes a smaller tv is required.

  • +6

I honestly think this is a bad deal even at half the price lol….

Imagine 768p in 2020… and paying $400 for it lol… from Harvey Norman… almost as bad as interest only loans…

    • I need a 32". Any other suggestions for 32" Smart TV with Bluetooth and Amazon Prime, I need both of these along with standard Netflix and Youtube.

      • -1

The problem is they havent been making FHD 32" panels for years. You best move to 40-42" panels if you require fhd.

        • won't fit in the space. Need a 32" TV

          • +1

@wanderingeyesau: If it suits your needs, and it seems it does, then go for it. It may not be a bargain (it isn't) but all you're trying to do is pay as little as possible for something that ticks all your boxes. it's worth paying for it.

The other option would be get a higher resolution PC monitor for less, add a streaming box and speakers. But it wouldn't turn on via remote.

            • @cyssero: i'd be going to gumtree or whatever…. i've got 2 x 32" tvs in the garage and most people would have excess old sets

i see no reason to spend anything like substantial on a 32" tv

            • +1

@cyssero: I bought it from Videopro for $335. I guess that's much better deal than HarveyNorman.

          • @wanderingeyesau: I've got a full hd 32 inch tv laying around. Contact me if you want second hand. Works perfectly fine.

  • I paid 380 for seiki 1080p 40 inch at target only 2 weeks ago . That sounds better then this deal.

  • Also my Samsung monitor 28 inch 1080p was 300 bucks and that was alike 3 years ago.

  • +1

its probably good choice for some, but personally I don't factor the "smart" part at all when buying a TV.
In my experience it will be outdated in a few years with no updates and just having a Chromecast attached to any tv will do 99% of what I expect from TV. I have an android box connected too, but don't use it that much.
Latest bluetooth is a solid argument (Y) , and so would be an AUX port - so annoying that most new TVs only seem to have toslink

  • +1

The previous version of this TV was $295 at Harvey Norman last weekend - probably still some stock in some stores.

An alternative would be this Hisense 32" for $295 https://www.harveynorman.com.au/hisense-32-inch-r4-hd-led-lc…

    • Bluetooth and Amazon prime are not in the previous version or Hisense R4 (which is out of stock) as well.

      • The previous version ran Android TV, so yeah, it does support Amazon Prime.

Bluetooth is a nice feature but pretty niche for most users (hence why it's not offered on most Sony / Samsung / LG / etc TVs).

        • I have another 55" Philips smart TV (I assume it is running Android), I don't see Amazon Prime video app on that. Does it mean it is not Android then?

          • @wanderingeyesau: Have you installed the Prime Video app from the Play store?

Any Android TV is capable of running Amazon Prime. On an Android TV you will be able to access the Play store and install any app from there. This includes Prime, Stan, Foxtel, Disney Plus, and all the Free-to-Air streaming services.

Most Android TVs only come with Netflix and Youtube installed by default. This doesn't mean you're limited to just those apps.

  • 768/HD/720p whatever you want to call it is absolutely unacceptable for this price. I thought 1080p TVs were gone. How can they sell 720p? At 400 dollars? Insane!

  • +2

If you must have a tv 32” or smaller, and it’s for a guest room, why not hunt fb marketplace and gumtree for one?
Will find one for a fraction of this price. And like mentioned above, it’s crazy to pay that price for that tv..

    • There's lots of new 32" tvs around - seen them in BigW - but usually close in price to the larger tvs. You pay a premium for smaller tvs these days.

      • Exactly. I was not expecting to pay more than $250 considering 65" TVs are selling for ~$1000. But needed a 32" smart TV with Bluetooth, and I visited many stores, they all say there is no supply from China.

  • No TV is nowadays further from smart than this one

  • +1

How tf is this a bargain?

    • its a joke post

go to ebay, there's 32" units from $179 etc etc.

no one wants 32" tvs really… its like 22" widescreen monitors… they've got too commodity and everyone wants larger

      • Stop saying "no one wants 32"". You're projecting what you need. OP does want the smaller and I have one in one of my smaller rooms.

        • I dont think I will. No one wants 32. What ya gonna do champ?

  • Not sure how this is a deal. You can get 40" Aldi TVs with 4k for as low as $399. This isnt even 1080p

  • +1

I understand that finding a decent 32 inch TV is rare and there is still a few use cases for a 32 inch. However, at this price, it's a no from me. If it was $250 or under, then that is a different story.

    • But hey some people want it. Dont marginalise me. There are dozens of us, dozens.

  • +1

Definitely not a good deal. It suits the OP's need and requirement but is a poor deal for most people

    • If you have the need, then you will do your own research and get on it. I had a mate who wanted a 24" TV to fit in a camper with 12v power.

Its not not like I'm gonna wait around until Ozbargain had a "deal" like this.

There's always edge cases but even at $399 this isnt the price I'd pay to fill in a niche.

  • +1

768p in 2020 for a TV at $400? Big yikes.

  • +4

If you want a similar spec 32 inch tv go for this. Yes it's still a tad expensive for what it is. However, it's way better than the TCL. Plus come with a five year warranty too.

    https://chiq.com.au/warranty-promotion/

    • This looks good, especially the 5 years warranty. But I already pulled the trigger with purchase from VideoPro for $335. Peace.

  • I need a 32" TV as well, I am thinking about this one

    https://www.bigw.com.au/product/eko-32-hd-android-tv/p/81446…

  • Just found the same TV on Videopro for $335.

Then this isn't a deal and should be removed.

  • Found a cheaper option that is a decent price. It is renewed.
