Ban video game CD-key websites?

We seem to be getting more and more deals on cd-key websites and they really offer nothing to ozbargain and just encourage spam by the owners of these sites.

  1. They are never "bargains" they are standard prices from India/Russia etc.

  2. Some of the bargains are from business's that are very new and nobody knows if they are legit

  3. A large portion of these websites will at some point sell keys that are reported stolen, purchased with a fake credit card or region restricted. This just shows that their suppliers are dodgy.

  4. A lot of the deals posted have required the cd-key website owner to login to your steam account and purchase the game for you. Luckily most of us neg them for this

  5. Especially for certain games, 2-6 months down the track keys seem to be randomly banned etc

  6. The only people who upvote it are people who don't know about these cd-key websites and don't know about possible risks.

I know certain websites have a reasonable history and are less risky, but most are a gamble. I think if someone wants to share a cd-key website they could just post it in the forums.

    Just don't view them if they don't particularly interest you….

      There are plenty more with negative votes though.

      The issue is that all those prices are everyday prices, why list them on ozbargain?

      It doesn't bother me to view them or not, I just don't think they suit being on here.

    I'm still quite happy with my latest cd-key purchase.. I've heard the rumors of people having their keys banned and whatnot, but it doesn't seem to be a huge number of people, its a risk I was willing to take and as of yet I don't regret it in the slightest.

    It can be questionable whether its actually a bargain or not, as its definitely a great deal cheaper than a full copy of the game, but cd-keys should be compared to cd-keys alone :)

    But overall I'm glad I spotted the deals posted here, not all games are available with key alone, I'd have forgotten to check otherwise.

    I vote to allow them.
