    This is a pretty regular 'bargain' from supercheap. It's never worth the $500 when not on sale. That list of tools fits into one drawer.

    For $200 it's ok. But it's certainly not heavy-duty, the drawers don't come out all the way, and the sockets and spanners included are tiny, the might make it 16mm.

    I got mine for $160 and I'm happy with it because I wanted a set of smaller deep sockets and some storage.

    TLDR:

    If you need some more storage for other tools / parts and also need a good quality ratchet/spanner set then this is good value. Otherwise the RRP is inflated and you're not missing out on a crazy good deal.

    Source: I own Stanely tools and use them for automotive work a lot.

      Hobbits are generally 60cm-122cm tall with the average being 107cm, this is too tall for most hobbits.

    Included tools are descent but definitely need another 3/8 set with larger sized sockets to make a good usable set. The bottom part of this trolley is very short as @theoldbladerunner mentioned , it uses flimsy thin steel but being narrow, its small enough for those in smaller garages.

    I added some sided shelves, raised it up and it's now a lot more ergonomic for wheeling around the garage.

        Cheers corbz.Just general home handyman stuff/ try hard tradie guided by YouTube. Sick of tools rusting, breaking and losing items from cheapo sets I have. A set for ~$500 would be great. No urgency. Happy to be directed to a quality set and pounce on a sale price

          If I had to whittle my kit down to a handyman grab bag I would go for:

          • Hammer drill + driver combo (think making holes and then driving screws etc) For home stuff honestly Ryobi will be fine, get it at Bunnings, take a photo of the receipt and you'll be set if anything goes wrong.

          • Variety of drill bits and driver bits.

          • A ratchet + spanner set (kingchrome brand or better)
          • A hand screwdriver set (5 piece or so) enough for the small guys and big guys
          • Hammer + Pliers/Vice grips combo (Irwin combos can come up for a good price and are good quality)

          It's a rabbit hole, but that's where I'd start looking.

          Read reviews, look at old ozbargain deals and see what people say about brands. You don't need the 400pc combo set with random torx bits.

          You're on the right path of buying stuff cheap the first time, then replacing it/upgrading as you start to break stuff or find it not good enough.

    Any recommendations on a decent tool kit for a first time home owner?

    Mainly using them to put furniture together, service the car, and just simple home renovations when needed.
