"Hey mum, I bought you something to cook me dinner with!"

Best way to become the favourite child.

  • I own the previous model and the sub-$100 Inkbird from eBay, and would highly recommend the Inkbird.

    • Chinese company (Inkbird) vs. US company (Anova).
      Explains the difference in price.

Inkbird is a very reliable product manufacturer when it comes to temperature control and more importantly doesnt matter where the company is registered if every component is made in China for the Chinese company or the American one

    • I have a question for those of you who have the Inkbird and I'm hoping you can share your experience with your device.
I recently purchased the Inkbird off eBay - it's great except for one thing; at the completion of cooking time it doesn't automatically stop heating, the end alarm continues to sound, the light remains green and cooking continues.
I've posted this question elsewhere and most (but not all) users have said that it does automatically stop (the light changes to red and heating stops). My unit stops only if the stop button is pressed manually either on the unit or on the app.

      • Don't think mine stops either, but it makes very little difference in that the thermal mass of the water is pretty big and will cook for ages after it switches off anyway (esp if doing things like eggs and so on).

@joshblake Are you associated with Anova?

    • Not at all … I'm a student … and cooking + good food keeps me sane! I had the original Anova when I lived back in Canada and have been eyeing one here in Aus ever since!

  • Could someone post a link to the inkbird?

heaps on ebay mate just dont order from inkbirdau because they seem to order it in from China and then post it so youd be looking at 30-40 days..I am still waiting on an order from 3 April :-D

  • Bad company to invest in.

Their previous product was a fraction of this price and works so well, I cannot imagine why I would want to upgrade.

  • Paid $159.00 for the previous version in 2018.

Mostly just used it for steaks but I'm pretty happy with it. Really good at making a cheap & thick cut of meat taste amazing.

99 bucks for an inkbird and works just as well ..Mind you inkbird on Ebay is dodgy with deliveries but yeah honestly these units move water and maintain temperature, the second being more important in sous vide .. Anova is good but pricey Id stick with inkbird with the caveat that if you are in a rush dont order from inkbirdau on ebay..Editing to say I have no affiliation with either just looking for value and helping others do the same

  • Original with bluetooth + wifi A$159 at Anova online store
    https://shop.anovaculinary.com/en-au/products/anova-precisio…

  • I've learnt my lesson, I'm not asking any questions about this.

  • Great for steak, ribs, fish, pork chop etc etc. can’t complain.

  • Bought this 2 weeks ago from Kogan for $229 delivered, the sale prices seem to bounce back and forth between Anova and Kogan
Would highly recommend the Anova- I owned the previous model and this one has significant improvements, notably the interface and the IPX7 rating.
Haven't used the app, I actually just use the superior Joule app to get times and temps, then manually put it into the Anova.

The reasons for buying this over the old version and the Inkbird that others are spruiking:

    • IPX7 waterproof rating (Inkbird specifically says it is not waterproof at all)- this comes in handy for long cooks when the steam is likely to be constantly hitting the control unit for long periods of time.
    • 2 year warranty vs 1 year (Anova customer service is great, had to return the old model one time and it was seamless).

That said I have only had mine a couple of weeks so cannot speak to its longevity, I have had it running almost non-stop since then so we shall find out…

  • Can someone help? After reviewing for quite some time, I finally pulled the trigger and ordered the Original with bluetooth + wifi A$159 at Anova online store for my mum for the Mother Day.

It arrived faulty (DOA?). I followed the instruction and fill the water mid way between min and max, turned it on, set the temp and hit the Start button. Long non-stop beep. Switched it off, wait for 10mins and restart it again. Same symptoms - Long non-stop beep when the start button is pressed.

I felt some bad for giving my mum a gift that is not working.

    Can someone please help? Thanks
