2 Cadbury Chocolate Footballs (192gm Each) for $5 at Coles (Save $15)

420

I Was in Coles this morning and saw this offer, nothing extraordinary but i think it was worth posting.

The special poster implies to me that this is a nationwide sale, rather than a 1 off store thing. Also on the box says "$5 off AFL Merchandise with this purchase" so maybe that will interest some of you.

Seems like just yesterday they were selling these for $10 each. Hopefully this will benefit some of you.

pspman.

Mod: OP says the $5 discount is for afl.com.au/shop and a $50 minimum purchase is required. Thanks

      lol lighten up

      updated

        • I posted

"I haven't posted in a fair while so here goes"

Its not the end of the world, and I updated it straight away when you started to whinge. Anyway, no need to keep this going. Thanks

        • +2

why do you feel the need to keep returning and digging yourself deeper into a hole.

why dont you go and find a friend, gather 2.50 and get yourself a chocolate football each. maybe it will help you out of your grumpy mood.

          bye now =)

    • +4

      Was that necessary to include?

      i agree, it wastes bandwidth…

      • +2

        my prrresssssious bandwidth :).
good thing i'm not on a 28kbps 50Mb plan anymore though right ;).

  • +6

We should impose a word limit and use shorthand for all bargains to save the bandwidth.
For example, this deal would be:

    2 cb c fb-$5

    • 2cbcfb -$5

      that is

      001011001011110011111011 -$5

      in binary…

      • What kind of 4 bit text encoding are you using?

        2cbcfb in ASCII encoded binary;
        2 c b c f b
        00110010 01100011 01100010 01100011 01100110 01100010

2CBCFB is the hexadecimal representation of
        0010 1100 1011 1100 1111 1011 which represents the individual numbers
        2 12 11 12 15 11

        Which jointly represents the decimal number;
        044188251

        Or just the ASCII characters;
        ,¼û

Don't want to make people think information technology is too simple :]

still get less chocolate than buying the normal dairy milk blocks, they were 2 for $4 at Big W last week. but if you want a novelty thing then go for it.

    • more gift/novelty than chocolate saving, but still saying this 5 bucks for near 400 grams of quality chocolate isnt too bad

      • -1

        cadbury ≠ quality chocolate

        • +1

          ummm debatable

        • +2

          Whitakers.
There's no going back once you have Whitakers :]
The only Cadbury chocolate variety I consume these days is black forest, it's not for the chocolate.

        • +1

Yep Whitakers is awesome chocolate. One square of it is equal to entire block of Cadbury

    • +3

But these are footballs!! Who cares about price?? What are we, ozbargain.com!?

    • +1

      OMG choc snobs now!
Not everyone has an acquired taste for quality chocolate.
Me, I stuff anything cheap into my mouth(except hookers, always get the expensive ones -> You get what you pay for)

  • +11

i dont know about anyone else, but i have a theory on chocolate…. that is it somehow tastes better when its thin strips.

ie. easter eggs, 'furry friends' packs, flake etc.

maybe its the increased surface area and the chocolate to air ratio when hitting the mouth is more ideal, but thin slivers of chocolate definitely taste better than big block chunks.

i'll go back in my hole now.

    • +4

No I agree with you - it's the same with cheese as well, definitely tastes different in thin strips as opposed to big chunks.

      • +5

        same with Broccoli…

    • It's the "crunch" factor. A thinner piece is likely to produce a crunch or snap when eaten, which makes it more palatable.

      • +3

for those that like to crunch their chocolate only ! im one of those who like it to melt in the mouth, i therefore also don't like cold chocolate.

        • +2

          Really? Weirdo.. :P

I love my chocolate cold, especially the eggs (or footballs I suppose….). Smashing them when icy cold is half the fun!

    • Easter egg choc is left over choc

      • No its not… I used to work at cadbury.. i know..

    • Heya..

I could not agree more. I think it even tastes more delicious when encased in foil… some sort of childhood relapse / memory thing…

Last weeks "SPECIAL" was 2 for $10. This week $5ea.

    Last week: http://twitpic.com/6ikpya
    This week: http://twitpic.com/6mkgzh

Note: The unit price for the advertised special is identical from one week to the next. I discussed this with the duty manager at our local Coles store and he agreed to have the signage amended.

    • +1

      This week $5ea.

No, this week 2 for $5

    • +1

No mate, this is 2 for $5 ($2.50 each), not $5 each

      • Stores are running different prices.

        • +1

          That surprises me…

          Coles commits to national pricing

“From 1 February, Coles will apply its lowest prices to more than 8,000 grocery products including meat, seafood, dairy, deli, bakery products and chocolate footballs across the country and the remaining grocery products will be matched to our lowest prices in each state,” Coles Managing Director, Ian McLeod, explained.

Sorry - NOT a bargain in my books.

    • +3

It is if you want a chocolate football

      • yep, football shaped chocolate definitely tastes better…

    • +2

Sorry - NOT a bargain in my books.

so can you find a better price for the Cadbury footballs ???

    • +4

      $5 for 2 eggs (192g+192g)
      It's $1.30/100g

    • This is an EGG… not a BLOCK.

      Different items.
For an egg, this is cheap!

      • +7

        No it's not, it's a FOOTBALL

        • hahahaha…. ok smarty pants :).

  • By the way, what sort of AFL merchandise does Coles sell? You know with the whole $5 off thing, or is it a '$5 off AFL merchandise anywhere' deal?

  • +1

just saw same deal at The Barracks in Brisbane.

  • 5 bucks for 2 eggs not for 1.

    $1.30 per 100 grams.

    check your local store

    • yep… might buy a couple to eat at the game tomorrow night !!!! Go Pies !!!

      • Agreed, go Pies, go away! :-p

      • Cake > Pie

Geelong will win, Pendles will get the Brownlow earning me a nice $220 and C.Judd will be the first to ever get all 5 votes in the one match!

        • Actually it's 6 votes - 1, 2, and 3 = 6 :-)

  • +1

My son was trying to get me to buy him one of these last week. No way was I paying $10 for one. I convinced him to get 2 x 250g bars for $5 instead, way better value :)

I'll get him 2 for $5 though if they have any left at my local Coles tonight.

  • Is this the price at all coles stores?

    • +1. Is this offer in Sydney too?

      • probably chocolate Rugby balls there ???

        • +2

I bet they don't taste as good ;)

    • Not at Coles Ivanhoe - still 2 for $10

      • It is at Coles Armadale WA - only had a few left, but definitely 2 for $5 as I bought some :-)

  • yeah id assume same price at all, give it a shot

  • Got some. Good deal

  • Nice bargin. I wonder if they taste better than usual cad…Not real fan of it anymore since they changed things. Lindt chocolate is usually what I go for but this is shaped like a footy and I imagine would be thin so it might taste better? :o

  • +1

Picked up a couple tonight, 2 for $5 is a winner at Doncaster!
The voucher can be used at www.afl.com.au/shop.
You will receive $5 off, as long as your minimum purchase is $50.
Just looking at the site, it looks like when you click on your club of choice (which should be Collingwood), it redirects to your team's online store anyway.

Maybe we can update this in the description :)

Haven't tried the chocolate yet, hoping to over the weekend with a cheeky glass of milk.

    • Thanks for that. I tried to update it, but have got a error message saying that i cannot change the URL to something other than ozbargain or something like that even though i am not making any attempt to change the URL. I have flagged this with a mod, and they will change it.

      thanks again

  • it tastes gooooooood

  • now only $1 each at coles gladesville 2111
