Crowd pleasing perennial favourite - classic Clare Valley Shiraz; elegant structure with juicy, rich fruit.

JAMES HALLIDAY ABOUT THE WINERY:
Claymore Wines is the venture of Anura Nitchingham, a medical professional who imagined this would lead the way to early retirement (which, of course, it did not). The starting date depends on which event you take first: the 4ha vineyard at Leasingham purchased in 1991 (with 70-year-old grenache, riesling and shiraz); '96, when a 16ha block at Penwortham was purchased and planted to shiraz, merlot and grenache; '97, when the first wines were made; or '98, when the first releases came onto the market. The labels are inspired by U2, Pink Floyd, Prince and Lou Reed. Exports to the UK, Canada, Denmark, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China.

This is a nice wine - I reckon I used to sell it for around $20 a bottle five or so years ago, so this comes out at a pretty good price.

    • Thanks pdtmathieson,
Ps, Where is the upvote? ;)

  • $19 at Dan's at the moment.

  • points?! Who really believes that wine can be ranked on a linear scale when it has been proven that taste is extremely subjective.
In blind tastings, people often struggle to tell white wine from red wine!
