Would be a great deal for me if the minimum spend per shop was $50 rather than $100
Based on standard delivery pricing, this deal can save money if you order $100 per shop twice a month or more.
Interestingly delivery is reduced by $3 per $50 extra spend, making delivery free for $300+ orders.
Amazon's free delivery with >$39 spend is more enticing.
Unfortunately they don't sell perishables though :(
It’s just not manageable for supermarkets to pick, pack and deliver for free. It’s hard work for the delivery guys, they can’t just card you and move on to the next one if you’re a few minutes late either.
I would dispute that. Significant savings can be made running stores without customers, in cost of operation, efficiency and reductions in stock loss. This does mean significant changes to current business practices, but the increase in online ordering has already seen Woolworths selectively close stores early to focus on online order fulfilment.
I suspect our family's shopping habits diverge from the norm, because our supermarket spend is primarily packaged staples and our fresh food spend is at local specialist stores.
I agree there’s a future business model here - I meant it’s not currently manageable for today’s supermarkets to do deliveries free of charge.
ah bloody hell i just ordered delivery today and it was $12 haha.. oh well
I tried this earlier today. My order above $100 still showed up as $12 delivery after picking a delivery slot, almost gave up until I realised they only subtract the $12 at the last step before payment.
Coles + eBay Plus = free delivery for $49 or more + extra 5% discount.
Downside - many things not available, mostly perishable products.
Should include in the post, that seniors now receive 10% off deliveries online
Timing. Just spotted it as well
