McDonald's McDonald’s Mildura & Irymple has further extended their Small McCafe & Medium Soft Drink offer for our healthcare workers to now include Cheeseburgers.

Redeemable in-restaurant or drive-thru.

Who is a healthcare worker?
Anyone working in our hospitals/medical centres caring for patients:

Paramedics, doctors, nurses
General practioners
Pathology, Aged care and Home Care workers.
Healthcare workers need to be in official uniform, show hospital ID cards or business card.

A big thank you to our frontliners for your continued support during this pandemic!

Update 23 April 2:30pm: McDonald's employees claim that the offer is meant to be nationwide, yet from comments and reports, not every store is honouring this offer (yet).
Please note that this deal is very poorly marketed by McDonald's, however our employee portal specifically states that this deal is active - please ask for the manager if the employees do not know about this promotion

            • @Ti-au: Give them to patients who have 25 unwanted club sandwiches :p

              • @MasterScythe: And suddenly the hospital is responsible for the food (so if anybody throws up, gets sick from it, etc).
                No.

                • @Ti-au: Thats not how ot works
So long as the patient requests it, thats fine.

Ive spent a lot of time in hospital, there's always an option to ask them to get you fast food instead .

                  And yes, thats public hospital.
Even on my 1 night stay for my appendix recently, I could opt for pizzahut or maccas rather than hospital meals.

Perhaps qld hospitals are nicer like that?

                  • @MasterScythe: Actually if the Hospital provides the food to the Patient - they are 100% responsible.
If you order food elsewhere - that is your choice and you deal with the consequences.
If McDs gives food to the Hospital and they give it to you they are responsible for it.

I hope Hungry Jacks was an option instead.

@Ti-au: Ah OK, so just because they take the order (its on their 'menu') but im technically ordering from outside the hospital that makes it OK?

Our legal system is the worst I swear…..

                      • @MasterScythe: Pretty much.

"Our legal system is the worst I swear….."

Well you still got McDs so I wouldn't say its that bad.

The main issue is that McDs gives up control of the food and so who is responsible if it makes you sick - McDs, or the Hospital which may of not stored it correctly (Contamination) or heated up in the microwave, etc. Delivery is usually straight to Patient so it doesn't become a worry.

    • Yep, then they'll spend an hour making TikTok videos of themselves eating the cheeseburgers. Great!!!

      • Tiktok? I thought the world was very anti Chinese things at the moment (jusy as a statement, whether reasonable or not)

I'm a healthcare worker and have claimed plenty of coffees over the last few weeks. It feels a little weird doing so, since it has all been controlled really well and it never really kicked off here like other countries. My entire district of hospitals has like 6 hospitalised cased of COVID and I've never personally seen a single COVID patient. Not complaining of course.

May I ask you a couple of things?

      Since the start of February:

      • How many breaks have you missed/been denied due to the healthcare system being overloaded?
      • On how many occasion have you been unable to secure necessary PPE to complete your job safely?
      • Number of times asked to pose for photos with a freely provided food product delivered to your place of work (e.g. donuts, pizza)?
      • How many TikTok videos have you recorded with coworkers?

      Genuine questions. Thanks!

    • You're the lucky one. My office was on the floor they decided to turn into the COVID clinic and next thing you know we're being handed PPE and patients started rolling in.

    • Don't worry about it, seniors get free coffee, drivers get free coffee. Seems like everyone gets free coffee these days.

  • Redeemable at General Holmes drive Maccas in Sydney.

  • Did Rob and Karen get these Mildura and Irymple Macca's back?

    https://www.sbs.com.au/news/mcdonald-s-dumps-franchisee-afte…

    • Mildura & Irymple is owned by McDonald's Corp.

  • Tried this in Newcastle - They only let you get the coffee OR the cheeseburger. Definitely not everywhere as it seems to be up to the managers.

  • Got this at MacDonalds St Leonard’s next to Royal North Shore.
I feel like I might be the only person in the hospital to taking advantage of the free drinks for the last few weeks…
