Auspost Damages Parcel, Repackages and Delivers Someone Else's Clothes?

Hi All,

Looking for the collective wisdom of OzBargain here.

My partner ordered clothes from SportsGirl which was delivered by Auspost.
Along the way the package was damaged and repackaged by Auspost.
What was delivered was one item that was originally ordered, along with 2 pieces of kids clothing from who knows where.

Of the ordered items, only 1 of 4 made it into the repackaged parcel.

We've tried contacting Auspost but they are currently only taking phone calls for passports?
As for Sportsgirl, seems like they aren't taking calls for the time begining and there is no complaint/contact on the website.

Transaction was paid for by visa through Sportsgirl website.

Cheers

Try emailing them, if all else fails and they refuse to resolve the issue consider a card chargeback with your bank.

The retailer is ultimately responsible, especially if it was not packaged well. Give them a few days to respond, and if they don't then do a chargeback. Do not wait for too long with a chargeback, or the bank may not be able to do it. Depending on your back, chargeback can be straightforward or painful.

lol, good old australia post - if they broke it, they'd just throw it in the bin and leave it for you to resolve with the vendor. from my understanding at the moment, they are so far behind there is no chance a good samaritan at auspost saw your damaged item and repackaged it up for you.

    • They once totally annihilated an expensive computer motherboard I ordered. Looked like someone drove over the box with the van, the damage was so bad. They repacked it in a clear plastic bag (probably to stop more fragments of plastic and metal flying out everywhere) and dumped it at my front door.

Not impressed with that delivery to say the least

  • Thanks for the info guys, I've got a few options to pursue.
The repackaged goods had an Auspost slip with it basically saying it's the vendors fault as it was not securely packaged.

Contacted the vendor via facebook and was given a generic enquires@ email but not confident that it will result in anything.
Otherwise a card charge back maybe in order, though never proceeded with this before.

    Cheers

    • When your delivery arrives take a video of the package all around it (speak out loud the date and time) and of you opening it and inspecting the contents.

Sent a 450 gram package EXPRESS POSTAGE 2 weeks ago (Melb - Brisbane) took 9 days for the buyer to receive (tracking was not updated after day 2 - Item processed at facility) until then marked as out for delivery & delivered on day 9 (AusPost just said Corona virus delay) Total Ripoff.
