Who needs toilet paper now eh???

    • +4

Best buy it before the hoarders do, after all, they only have a five year supply of toilet paper.

  • I've always wondered why they called it the "whale spout" seat. Something to do with the shape, perhaps? Surely it couldn't be some prudish way of describing that it spurts water up your clacker from underneath, because that's the basic function of all bidets.

    • Just be careful not to use it during whale hunting season

    • +1

It plays a whale cry/moan everytime it washes your ****

    • If you look up images of the control panel on Japanese bidet toilets you’ll see that the No. 2s cleaning option (as opposed to feminine hygiene cleaning option) water spurt picture looks like a whale spout as depicted in cartoons. Maybe that’s why?

  • +1

Pulse massage, give you a new experience

What kind of a new experience we are talking about ? I genuinely do not understand what pulse massage does

    • +8

A jet of pulsing warm water right at your balloon knot is definitely a new experience, and quite pleasant to boot.

      • +1

I can't tell the difference before regular and massage mode, feels the same to me.

  • +1

this might not fit on the toilet as the front might stick out after looking at the install instructions, is there a different model that might?

    • +1

happened to mine, you can still use it though.

      • What was your toilet size? Mind to share a photo?
I’m ready to buy but my toilet is just 490 mm

        • I'll get back to you on that

          • @mange: Thanks

            • @Rogaor: mine is around 520 from the tank. Yeah it doesn't look neat for it's just a toilet so who cares.

              https://imgur.com/a/jdJwfvp

              • @mange: So you measured from the tank? I measured from the edge of the current bowl (https://imgur.com/a/QHepPSm) and got 420mm but there's a gap of 100mm to the tank. https://imgur.com/DYK8sgy
                Thoughts?

                • @cray: Mine doesn't have a gap but I guess the final length is the same. Now I can't remember if you can adjust the distance but worst case scenario it will probably end up like mine.

                  • @mange: Thanks - probably wont go for it in that case.. Too risky and the Mrs. might not be too happy about it..

  • +2

Each time this deal comes up it reminds me of the housos japan trip toilet spraying abdul
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuB0NbBqKPY

  • Does this require a backflow valve?

    • I assume the filter bottle included does the job.

    • When I bought it last month it came included.

    • No it does not. The nozzle sits above the waterline there isn't any way toilet water could flow bakc into the mains with this.

      • You sure about that ? Ever seen a blocked dunny ?

      • I bought one last month and I can assure you that it did.

        • weird.. mine came pretty much as shown here: https://youtu.be/ueE6buTsW00?t=19 - my understanding is the white cylinder in the bottom left is a replaceable in-line water filter… actually on closer inspection i now see the metal check valve. totally forgot about this!

    • I got one last month and it comes with one.

    • Yes it does.
This is made in China so they don't comply with our regulations for having a backflow valve.

I recommend you get the valve otherwise you could be drinking ass water.

      • How?

Water is brought into the bidet, which then sprays out. Remaining water is purged into the toilet after.

Even if the water backflowed from the bidet, theres no ass water being stored in it, its fresh from the mains

        • when you suck on a straw does the water stay at the top or does it flow back down?

          • @yama131: It flows back down. A straw doesn't purge the water inside it when you stop sucking.

Also, just like this, the straw never has ass water in it.

  • I'm presuming this technically requires a plumber to screw the connectors together to be legit?

    • The D'Lucci one from Bunnings that I got is fairly straight-forward and I did the complete installation in 20 minutes.

    • +1

      https://www.productsafety.gov.au/news/covid-19-supplying-and…

Yes, any bidet connected to the drinking water supply by law requires a licensed plumber to install it.

    • +1

I did this myself. Easy as long as you have a power outlet on the side of your toilet. That electrical part needs to be done by a sparky.

  • +1

How does this compare with all the fancy Toto washlets?

    • I don't think you're gonna find someone who owns both. This one is pretty good for the money you're paying.

      • My only concern is longevity. Our smartmi one failed in like 17 months.

  • +1

i got the Kogan one for 200 odd, the one without the remote, i prefer not to have a remote or phone necessity.
Installs easy, and can remove quicky for flat inspections, because they're anal Scott these things

    • +3

      They're what now?

    • *about

      • really? Anal Scott?

  • would this replace the Xiaomi Smart Toilet easily? I have one but its not working so well anymore.

    • I don't recall xiaomi ever made a smart toilet… do you mean the smart mi one?

  • Can you tell me which side the power plug and inlet tap is on?

  • Anyone own one of these for more then 18 months would comment on how reliable it it’s? after version 1 fail consistently after 18 months I no longer trust this.

    • Interested in this too, I want to buy a second one after my D'Lucci one from Bunnings.

  • Just how many differents are we talking here?

  • My powerpoint is on the right side. Is there a model where the power is located on that side? Although, workaround is to loop the cable behind the toilet seat.

    • Stage right?

  • I posted in the wrong thread, oops.

  • Noob question. Do we need a plumber to install this?

    • +1

No, i did it myself. Pretty easy.

      • I think legally you do, as there is a chance with bidet's contaminating the water supply if not hooked up correctly.

        Source: https://www.productsafety.gov.au/news/covid-19-supplying-and…

Also, has been in the news lately. https://thewest.com.au/news/coronavirus/contaminated-water-f…

        • -3

Do you also need plumber to install shower head you (hopefully) use to wash your butt daily? Or maybe it has some fancy valve on it?

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Usually the showerhead is fixed to the wall, (I know detachable ones are a thing) and isn't washing your butt that just took a crap, and isn't used anywhere near as much as a bidet is. The showerhead also doesn't sit in a toilet bowl all day (hopefully).

The installation of a bidet isn't all that difficult, assuming it has the necessary back-flow protection included, but it is illegal to do so unless you are a plumber, just letting people know what the law is, it's up to the individual what they do.

At the least though, if putting a bidet in, research back flow protection standards for your state and make sure you install it according to code.

            e.g. for South Australia:
            https://www.sa.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0020/209234/OTR…

            • @Scrobo: When we did the bathroom reno I asked the plumber if he could install the bidet seat. The way he explained it was that if the bidet is certified compliant with the relevant standard he was happy to put it in for free because its easy. If, however it isn't, he can only install it if he puts a backflow prevention valve from my property to the mains, which would cost a fair bit of money. My understanding is that the whalespout now has the relevant certification in Australia (meaning - in accordance with the relevant AS?NZ standard, if installed as instructed there is no chance of backflow), and can therefore be installed without a plumber having to put in an expensive backflow valve.

        • I can’t see how this happens. It has non return valves and filters.

  • I really want to pull the trigger but I hate the idea of an app. I don't want cloud connectivity or the need to sign up with a username/pwd needlessly.

    • it has physical buttons on the side

      • I imagine you're losing features if they're justifying the need for an app but there are only 3 or 4 buttons on the device itself. The more I look, the more I don't like - buttons placed pretty much on the bowl doesn't feel very hygienic.

Why they couldn't just make it a simple bluetooth pairing seems odd.

        • button position is pretty good imo, seems to work fine. I don't have it connected to wifi, i dont find any reason to use the app

        • I stopped using the app after a few weeks, so much easier to just push the button. You won't be wiping your ass anymore, what's the concern with hygiene? Do you clean the tap mixer and everything else you touch with your dirty hands?

    • Get the Dluuci one from Bunnings, it has a physical wireless remote that your mount wherever convenient next to the toilet seat.

  • If you’re interested, i suggest you read through previous deals comments which will answer a lot of qs. One thing from the model is they are ‘long’… so measure your toilet correctly…

  • How much does it normally cost to get a new powerpoint installed?

    • Depends on access, it cost me $160 last time, and $90 the time before that.

  • Does the water outlet need to be in the left. Anyone run I to finding there's was on the left?

    • Check installation video Here

      • +2

That was zero help, the power and water outlet were on the left in the video. What if they were on the right?

        • My units water inlet is on the right and power on the left.

          • @mrvaluepack: Is the toilet a back to wall unit? Not sure how to run the water hose to the other side without it being tucked behind the seat if it's possible

  • Mi is one of the best brands in the world, but sometimes it suffers from quality control because of too many kinds of product from Mi in the market now.

    • Their instant noodles are very popular.

  • Looks like this unit is quite long. Would a toilet that measures around 420mm suit at all? Not wanting to pull the trigger and not able to fit it.

    • 420mm is not enough.

      • Thanks for the reply but can you confirm if I've measured correctly? I have 420 with the current seat https://imgur.com/a/QHepPSm but there's at least another 100mm gap behind the seat currently. https://imgur.com/DYK8sgy.

        • Hwyey how'd u go with this? All three toilets at home are about 420-430…

          • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Did not end up replacing unfortunately. I didn't think our toilet was that small but maybe Chinese toilets are just much larger.

      • 490 for me :( Still not chance?

        • 500mm need it.

  • Do you need to install waterproofing to the toilet area if you have one of these bidets?

    • No, it has a pressure sensor detector so it will stop spraying water once someone leaves the seat. And wont work if there isnt anyone sitting.

  • I am interested but wondering if it will fit this? Sorry I can look at the dimensions but wanted for a double-confirmation.
    https://www.reece.com.au/product/kado-lux-close-coupled-back…

    • Check measurement Here.

      • it shows d. 125mm - 190mm. It is a range instead of an exact measurement between the screw holes.
The reece toilet suite I posted above shows 140mm. Does this mean that the positioning are adjustable?

        • Correct

  • +1

Is there anywhere i can give one of these beauties a test drive to se if its "up my alley"?

  • Be aware that fitting it yourself could result in fines etc. if there is a contamination problem, it looks like they have the right certifications, but still not sure if it has a compliant back flow prevention valve.

    • +1

Yikes …the link in your other post further up makes it quite clear "In Australia, the installation of bidet products connected to the drinking water supply must be undertaken by a licensed plumber."

    • +1

Fair information, but I'm not paying a plumber $200 to come and screw in some hoses.

    • Lol, who in the world is going to invite a council officer into their home and ask them if it was compliant. Unless u invited someone over who dobbed you in.

  • YESSSS been waiting for this deal

thanks gearbite, and also putting the price down in ebay to make it $337 after the 10% discount
