Minecraft Education Collection - 13 Free Maps

280

Minecraft currently has an Education Collection of Maps for free, some of them look pretty good.

Have a look on the Minecraft Market Place Dashboard in Minecraft.

There is also the Spring-a-majig bundle too for free.

Enjoy.

  • I thought the base minecraft game was free? is there a way to get it cheaper or is $29.99 the only way (PC Win10)

    • +3

Minecraft was never free. There may be some maps which were given out for free but the base game was never freeware.

Also don't pay $30 for it. You can get Minecraft for Win 10 for $4.50.

Just remember that the Win10 version (Bed Rock) is different to the Win10 Java version. The Java version never seems to be cheap. They are also not cross compatible, but the bedrock version is cross compatible with the Ipad, Switch, Xbox and PS4 versions.

I got my Minecraft Win10 off Ebay for about $5, very happy with it.

The advantage with the Java version is the amount of mods you can get for it.

      • thanks! will get a copy of this. Is it one log in per user? If we have a family of 3, will everyone need a copy?

        • I think its on your a/c, not sure if there's a device limit.

I grabbed one the other day from vevo games for under $8. Code arrived in a few minutes.

        • In Windows 10, just login with the account that has purchased it just to install it.

Once installed, you can run it not logged into the Microsoft account and a few people can play. I have joined 3 people up but it can have 8 on a local LAN game I think.

When not logged in you need to purchase (for free) the maps etc from Marketplace again and it will download them again (each computer that has Minecraft installed). You do not need to login with the Microsoft account to download free maps.

          • @fredk1000: oooh that's some good info thanks for that.

Also if we wanted to all build in the same environment in creative mode over LAN, would that work too?

            • @highon2str: Yep, one person starts the game, the others join the LAN game, up to 8 people can be in the world.
It's fun with the kids creating, had some great laughs.

Can play hide and seek, a games likes wheres wally, you need to turn off the display the name on top of the character though.

Better than Lego because you have unlimited blocks, and Lego is expensive!

      • Also if you sign up to the Kinguin news letter you get another 5% off. Not much but still something especially if you're buying multiple Minecraft copies for your family and/or other games.

      • So this will give me a code to activate the game or will it give me a link to download the game once I've paid for it?

        • It gives you a code to activate the game through the Microsoft Store on Windows 10. You click on the three dots to the top right in the Microsoft Store and then select redeem a code. And then you can download the game.

Sorry I'm new to Minecraft. 5 year old loves it. Are these maps available on Android?

    • Yes. Click Marketplace, scroll down and find the Education section.

Do them a favour and get it going on a big screen.

Minecraft currently has a Education Collection

    an education.

I noticed that too in the description and it made me cringe :).

It's surprising how often I hear pearls of wisdom like- "I pacifically axed youse a question so why you done it for?"
And then they look at me like I don't understand English!

I now understand why English was compulsory during my HSC, and I am thankful for it ;).

I try not to be an arsehole grammar nazi and let most things go, but the irony of "a education" forbade me from ignoring this one.

        • Yes i assumed it was on purpose.

      • English was compulsory during my HSC

And yet for people like me, it made no difference. Of course HSC English isn't about spelling & grammar.

    • I don't know what you are talking about.

        I know.

The Marine Biology roleplay map is great fun too. My nine year old and I went through it the other day.

  • For more, go to https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/catalog and search for Free - click on the items in your browser and the Windows 10 version will open up and allow you to get the free packs.
