  • Not sure if anyone can really give this a '+' unless they go through the process of getting a quote and seeing if Coles comphrehesively (pun intended) beats the others

From my experience my comprehensive quote with Coles for my vehicle was $861 with $600excess, with Youi $649 with same excess (or was it $700, can't remember 100%, doesn't make huge dif)

  • for the record, i think they use mondial assist for the roadside assistance (same as porsche, bmw, mercedes factory programs)

  • I liked it because of the 12 Cents off on fuel.

We have 2 LPG wagons > 12 Cents / litre on 100 litres of Gas = 12$ off on petrol every month for 1 year. adds up to another 144 $ in savings.

  • Does anyone have any experience with Claims on Coles insurance ? because that's where the real test is !

Do they make it easy or hard as hell ? I have heard some horror stories about how bingle bungled up. and some other companies.

Anyone who has actually made a claim with Coles Car insurance ???

    How was your experience ?

  • Does the Coles service vehicle come with food in the back?

  • +1

Guys - DO NOT buy any insurance from Westfarmers AKA Coles

Their customer service is below than avarage (same as TPG)
More importantly - overall service is very very bad
I never received a single phone call from the case officer - everytime I have to call them to get a status update…

I just had an car accident (I was the victim) and went through horrible experiences
It wasn't my fault, issue is still under investigation and I still have to pay the access fee to release my car (surprisingly I have to pay the fees to the panel beater shop who repaired the car…)

The only thing good about Coles insurance is the Fuel Discount
I was with NRMA and AAMI - more than happy to spend extra $50-$100 but I will never buy insurance from Coles again

    • Thanks Bappy, I knew there was sumthing fishy about coles coming out with insurance…=S

    • Below avarage?
If it wasn't your fault, and it's still under investigation, then did the other party admit fault?
not unusual if it's a complicated accident & it's hard to determine who is at fault.
      e.g. you were reversing & someone did a u-turn & rear-ended you.

As for customer service & price, alas these days you pay more for customer service.
Virgin are cheap, but not very good customer service, but I'd prefer to save $200/year then go with RACV/AAMI/Allianz, etc.

The big thing with the cheaper insurance is the introductory price - Youi are especially guilty, where you get a very low first year (bait premium) & they rely on you being lazy and just renewing with the big increase the next year.

  • Well the reviews on product review don't look good,,

I am having second thoughts now ,,…

  • I have seen many times that the petrol at coles or woolies caltex is not cheap than some other metro/other petrol pumps. I seldom use the 4c discount.
Also the 12c disount is once a month. You save little and loose more by getting a poor service in insurance.

  • I have just given this a go. Having Roadside Assist thrown in is a good deal. I just received the petrol vouchers, and although they have the months written on each voucher, it actually doesn't say you have to use them in that month, as well they all have an expiry date of 31st December 2012. So in theory you could use them all up in your first 12 tanks of juice, in theory giving you the savings upfront. I drive a fair bit across metro Melb, Coles Express are generally the same price as the others. Just find the one nearest you (Coles Express) that you know is always cheaper and fill up there on the cheapest day of the week.

I've just gone through an ordeal with Budget Direct, and i'll never go through them again. You will hear horror stories about EVERY insurance company. Remember it is always in their best interests not to pay out (just some are better than others at doing it) Wesfarmers Insurance have been around for a long time, so they should be competent in their insurance process.

Insurance is a necessary evil, might as well get it cheap.

    • True but atleast NRMA get a good rap from a few and their complaints aren't that high when you consider they are a much bigger insurer and have been in the game for ages compared to Coles…

In RE: to the complaint another poster listed above…when we were with NRMA we had two not at fault claims and NRMA handled everything for us and chased up the other parties without us having to worry and then gave us the choice of where we wanted it repaired…

      • Yeah I have heard better stories from friends about NRMA and AAMI,
        Atleast in terms of service.

Personally I was with HBA for my first and only no fault claim so far and they were fantastic about the whole process. I haven't switched to Coles yet but I am thinking ,,…

If we do have to make a claim then it doesn't look good, Love HBA , they'll have someone on the line in less than 10 Minutes.. much better than some other horror stories I have heard before..
